Thinking of adding 50HP injectors to my truck which is otherwise stock and was just looking for some feedback from people who've ran like this. I usually tow at 6K and often tow in the mountains (have EGT gauge).

Was curious about EGT's and smoke levels with the injectors. The truck is an '05 auto.

I wouldn't, I think your money would be better spent on a mild pressure box if you just want a little extra power. With injectors you have zero adjustability. Don't get me wrong aftermarket injectors have their place, but not at the start of modding.

I went the route of a pressure box a quad box to be exact. I ran the box on towing most of the time but turned it up to play the the rice burners. After 6 months I cracked a tip and filled the crankcase with diesel. In my opinion with all the threads saying about bad tips I would put my money in a good set of injectors and maybe a turbo and build from there.

how do you like youre Don M injectors, how much horsepower are they,do they make much smoke, also how do you like youre modded CP3 pump from john at floor it diesel

I will have everything installed this weekend. The injectors are rated at 175 hp and I was told froma dead stand still to wot until the silver bullet lites I maybe able to shutdown the intersection So I will have to feather the throttle until the turbo spools

My 50hp DDP injectors have no problems towing 6-8k. In the mountains I usually maintain the speed limit to keep EGT's in check. My injectors made 83hp at the rear wheels. Here's my dyno sheet. It shows stock and injector modified. I plan to add a Smarty soon.

I'd agree with RMalone. Start with a pressure box, like the Edge EZ or similar. Good power increase, adjustability in power output and 5 minute install vs. injectors around 2-3 hours.

Thanks for the reply. How does the smoke compare to stock injectors?

KLockliear is being kind at 2-3hrs for an injector swap, first time I would plan 5-6hrs, you DON'T want to take any short-cuts. Injectors are great they just aren't where you start the mods. If pressure scares you, go with a Smarty you can have a little fuel or enough to gut the stock transmission and grenade the stock turbo.

I have 90hp injectors and pull 8k in SoCal. I don't have EGT problems in 6th gear. I can have EGT issues in 5th at high RPM's. I don't run my downloader due to clutch slip. I have more smoke. I do drive in LA so I don't see much over 45 mph most of the week. When I pull on the highway on a weekend, there is a lot of smoke but then it cleans up.
