I've done gone and did it. I ordered a set of DDII injectors and a boost module, a pyro gauge, and boost gauge. My truck has the auto transmission and 4. 10 rear, and I use it exclusively for driving around town tow only in extreme rare cases - and it's a lite load when I do.

Has anybody else out there installed upgraded injectors and a boost module with the stock auto transmission? How has it been?

I plan on going the DTT TC/VB route, but not until I finish paying off a few other bills.

Greg

Truck has 22K miles on it, nary a problem since new!

I would guess that you are right on the edge of slipping the TC clutch. DD2's are about the same power level as an EZ, but add their power smoothly across the RPM band. You will also be using more throttle to get the power as the fueling signal is not altered so line pressures will be a little higher than with a box HP for HP. It will likely work fine for a while, but I think you will have transmission problems (read trashed transmission) if you run it hard without upgrading at least the VB.

Greg, the DD2's alone will probably not cause you too much worry. You'll know your slipping the convertor. If your not towing, I wouldn't unless you do the upgrades to the transmission. At least get the VB in first, this increases line pressures ,and firms up the shifts.

The EZ and 275 injectors would easily slip the convertor in stock form. That combo is more than just the DD2's. I've run all of these in different scenarios.

Almost forgot to add, get a transmission temp gauge, you'll definitely want one of these, then you'll have no second guessing what your transmission is doing.

Hey CSCPUSHER, How about DDIIs and a 6speed with a boost module? Maybe a VanAakin or EZ with 4" exhaust and K&N RE-0880. #ad

I remmeber Mike Vonata back in December was running DD3's on a HO 6-speed, and no complaints. I do not believe he had upgraded his clutch. He did have a 4 inch exhaust.
I also hear of others saying the HO clutch can't take much abuse, not sure on that one.

My 'EZ' alone with stock Auto caused 'shuddering' in 3rd gear 'lock-up'!
I didn't chance a blown AT so I installed a DTT Valvebody, plus DD2's. No problem since install at WOT, just a lot of black smoke at each stop light.

as you can see by my sig,i did alot of bombing before i did the transmission mods. it was only last week i got my DTT TC and VB. every transmission is diffrent. i didn't have a problem with mine after all the mods. of course, if i hammred it, i could get the clutch to slip. when the transmission guys took apart mine, the said it looked like brand new inside. i think if ya ca afford the DTT stuff, its well worth the money. i'd go as far to say go with the DTT stuff first. the diffrance of that stuff alone is unreal!!!... ... jood luck... . james...

well i hate putting this up but every trans is different , and no i'm not saying to do this but i ran way more HP than most guys that are spouting gloom and doom with no ill effects that i know of . i haven't taken it apart to see if anythingslipped in the trans itself , thats coming soon .

if i had to do it over again i would have done the trans first . the power that gets to the ground alot better wit hmy DTT 93% tc and that may have saved me a few bucks on HP mods ... NOT ... .

Thanks to everybody for their opinions. I think I'm going to put those DDII's in there along with the boost module, and attempt to use some common sense for a couple months until I can schedule my DTT VB/TC appointment. I'm completely happy with the stock performance of the truck, it's just too slow and too mushy off the line. #ad

I added the EZ a few weeks ago and it's ok. I did have a shudder in 3rd lock up starting of on a slight hill I got a little shudder just backed out of it and was OK. I had gotten this shudder before the EZ. I tow a lite travel trailer. I did notice higher transmission temps when climbing a steep hill had to shift the auto to second it kept wanting to shift up to 3rd and then EGT got to high. It's kind of a peoblem in certain conditions Once the transmission temps start to climb its hard to reverse that increase. The DTT mods seem like the answer just hate to spend the bucks.

put the injectors in and if you get the dreaded shudder then you will need to install a VB. the transmission's are all different. not two the same. with just an EZ mine would slip in 3 lockup and 4 lockup. but now (see sig) theres no slippage #ad
