Gale said, "Give me the same performance box as you and I'll kick your butt on density. " I think I had that right and what he said. Some techy pls splane this to the regular folk out here??? :D

The amount of power that an engine can make is ultimately a function of the mass flow of fuel and air (both elements being necessary for combustion) that can be run through the engine in a given period of time. More fuel isn't hard to do - with hotter boxes and bigger injectors we can always pour more fuel into the engine. Air, however, is a different matter. We can only burn the fuel efficiently if we have a proportionate quantity of air (by mass) to combine with it. Air mass flow is a function, among other things, of air density (i. e. , lb mass of air per cubic foot of volume) - a function that doesn't receive the level of attention that additional fueling seems to. I believe that was Banks' point as I listened to the program.

I saw the show, seemed like a add for the Banks Duramax, there was very little usefull information about what was actually being done to increase performance or even how much of an increase was gained, you also got hear Gale's politcal views on oil importation, what a bonus.

I did, however, get a kick out of seeing the KORE "Beast" in the actual Banks commercial they ran during that show.

yeah, i liked that too... .

i also liked the six gun PDA controller thing... i like that more than a stand alone controller... that would mount very nicely where my pass side airbag shut off blanking plate is...

Yeah it would be sweet to see banks and Edge go head to head. He also thinks it would be benifcial to make a Diesel turn 7,000 RPM's. Maybe with a V-style but not an inline.

I took the whole Banks propaganda with a grain of salt. However, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the flogging Stacy gave that D-Max in the mud.

RustyJC’s response is accurate. The idea is that fuel is necessary to make power, but you need to have air to go with the fuel, and the more air that you have, the more fuel you can burn, the more power you can make. Density refers to the oxygen content that is present in a given amount of air. Oxygen content can be increased by increasing the pressure of the incoming air and/or reducing the temperature of the air.

During the next two weekends (March 5&6, 12&13) the show that airs just before Trucks, Extreme 4x4 will have a lot of useful information about products available for the Dodge. You will also see more about the KORE truck on those shows.

SOOT,

The project that is focused on achieving 7000 RPM with a diesel is based on the Duramax. In order to achieve that, many internal modifications and fuel system changes are necessary.

i would like to see Banks and Edge go head to head on Trucks, i think we all know what would happen :-laf

what would happen? not just at the drags you need to topend them as well. I do not think the prostock chassis will like bonneville to well, atleast I know jerry bickel race cars did not build it for that place. or better yet have wolverine tow a trailer to the track before the race. don't bash someone because you don't use their product. I use the edge and love it. I also know banks has done the homework with their ride as well as edge/dd did on theirs. but really I do not think they were built for the same thing, each shinning in its own way. just as the tdr said they named it wolverine for a reason ,let them go to him to show their stuff, will they? I bet we don't see them tackle bonnevile in that ride, whats the odds in vegas?
