I think They are still a bit mellower than the 454 casull. My next choice for a big bore is to trade my 454 casull ruger Super red hawk in on a 460 which will chamber 45 lc, 454 casull and 460 rounds through the same cylinder.

I really like the 500 Smith but don't think I'm too undergunned by my . 44 Mag Taurus Tracker... found the Tracker comforting on fishing/hiking excursions in Montana Grizley country.

I've shot both the 500 and the 460. Guy I work with had a 500, won it at a banquet. My dad has a 460. The 500 was a tad harder to hold on to with the short barrel, but the 460 has more wallup. A box of shells for the 500 is around $60. A box of 460 shells is around $35. The 460 is more versitile with a choice of three different calibers.

the 4" does not kick as hard as the 10". i noticed the same thing with the 44 mag derringer that had about half inch of useable barrel, it can not build the ft lb's of energy. but if the bullet does not kill it it will burn it so bad it will go elsewhere

I've got a 460 Smith from the Performance Shop, while it's a handful you can easly shoot it onehanded, though it's just a showoff kinda thing. If I've got a audiance and am standing (proper twohand hold), I always let it come up over my head and step back a step or two then offer to let someone else bust one. LOL, few takers. What I'd love to shoot is a 460 Smith with the cute little 3" barrel.

Anyone ever tried one on for size?

OK, thread hijack over.
