I drive a truck for a living and I listen to XM radio all the time, mostly 171 Open Road. Dave Nemo's show talks about all kinds of products to increase profitability of big trucks. Examples are the turbo 3000d veda, grande rock performance mufflers, and centramatic wheel balancers. If these products work for big trucks they should have benefits for us also.

Turbo 3000D GUARANTEES AT LEAST a 10% increase in fuel mileage plus increased power and performance www.turbo3000D.com

Grande Rock Quiet Performance Internal Mufflers alson claims better fuel mileage.

These are pricey IMO. But if you have stacks and really want to get rid of any drone wouldn't these work? http://www.grpipes.com/qpmufflersdual.asp

Centramatics claim solve vibration problems and increase tire tread life 25-50%.

Truckers call Dave and claim these products really work. I was just curious if any of you guys have any experience with any of these products? I'm especially interested in the turbo3000d.

Sorry, but Turbo 3000D sounds like a scam to me.

From thier site:

Q. How does the TURBO3000D work?

A. The TURBO3000D turbulates fuel so that it burns cleaner and more completely inside the combustion chambers, thereby optimizing combustion efficiency and reducing emissions of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.

Q. When will the TURBO3000D NOT work?

The TURBO3000D will not work if it has not been given enough time for the break in period, which is typically 12,000-15,000 miles of use.

For one thing, I don't see how, what is basically a piece of metal hose, can "turbulate" the fuel? Or what good turbulation of the fuel would do?

They do offer a 60 day money back guarantee for the Turbo 3000D. BUT... for myself (and I would guess many average drivers), 12k-15k miles is more like 6 - 9 months of driving, not 60 days. In other words, the return period would have long since expired.

There is also no refund for the $20 - $60 dollar installation kit ($60 for our trucks).

$259 ($199 for 3000d + $60 for installation kit) would buy a lot of Redline Diesel fuel Catalyst, which (according to their advertising):

Contains powerful high temperature detergents, lubricants and a combustion catalyst. This catalyst reduces smoke dramatically, reduces detonation, and improves fuel economy 4-8% based on fleet and dyno tests. The lubricants can reduce wear in low sulfur fuel by 75%, prolonging injector and fuel pump life. Corrosion inhibitors will help prevent rust and corrosion.

I don't sell Redline, but, based on personal experience, I do believe in it.

The Centramatic Wheel Balancers are real, I started using them about two years ago and they really help in the ride and handling department. They took out the slight vibration in the steering wheel and made the ride quieter and smoother (I run large mud tires). I did not remove all the wheel balancer weight like they suggested, that part never made sense to me. Common sense seems to dictate that you should keep them in place, the closer the wheel is to a balanced state the better.

In the oils department, I use to use Mobile one years ago before they watered it down and made it a semi-synthetic. For the last 6-7 years I have used only Amsoil and I have no complaints. This is a little story of what happened with my wifes car. I enjoyed the benefits of a engine block heater so much that i wanted to install a block heater in my wifes car so she would have the roosty toasty benefits on those cold winter days like I did. So I had the dealer install the block heater and wired up a retractable extension cord in her parking space so she could plug in. About two weeks latter, as she was traveling down the highway the block heater blow out, and the entire cooling system pumped it self dry. She pulled off the road and called the dealer, he said drive it on in since they were 4-5 miles away. So she did, the car was completely dry of coolant and the thing barely made it to the dealer. They fixed it, and when we went to pick it up the mechanic ask us what type oil we were using, I told him Amsoil. He smiled and told us what all happened to the inside of the motor, how the head had cracked in 5 places, warped, and melted the head gasket. But the car never sized-up, it made it to the dealer and their was no damage to the block. He said he knew we must have been using some sort of synthetic oil, because he had never seen a engine in such bad shape keep ruining.

I would not be a happy camper if the dealer recommended driving it dry!!! :-{}
