I did. Let me tell you all about it.

I bought a pair of drums and shoes made by Centric from Rock Auo. I put the parts omy truck and didn't get very far. The brakes tightened up every time I stopped. I could hear the left side tensioner release when I started from a stop. I took the brakes apart and couldn't see anything wrong. I even compared them to a friends 1996 CTD that he bought new. His brakes are factory. My bakes looked the same as his so I completed the istall correctly.

Today I bought a st of Napa premium shoes and drums. I removed the Fentric drums and mounted them backwards. I used a dial indicator that showed 0. 010" runout on one side and 0. 20" on the other. That doesn't seem like much so I ruled out the drums.

I put the original shoes back on and the brakes seemed better. I didn't hear the left adjuster release when I started from a stop. I replaced the shoes with the Napa shoes Nd had the same results.

I have put Centric pads on dozens of cars without a problem and now this. Has anyone else had this happen?

Did you try to set the shoes inside the drums? Were they the same radius and contour? If all the weight of the brake is being exerted on the center of the shoes... ... .

2 cents more, i have read lately online with brake shoes guys are beveling the leading edge on shoes more to prevent the grabby brake issue on all cars, like HH is saying they are probably not radius-ed right for the drums... cheap azz manufacturing these days and no quality control.

I checked the radius per this thread: https://www.turbodieselregister.com...ear-Drum-Brakes-Shaking-You-Up&highlight=Drum I had even contact all around.

Both the Centric and Napa shoes were tapered on bothe leading and trailing edges.

I spent some time e-mailing RockAuto about this problem. They suggested adjusting the rod between the brake pedal and mster cylinder. They claim that if it is out of adjustment it could put pressure on the brakes. As I thought about the brakes I realized I didn't check the drag with the engine running and the transmission in neutral. This leasves the hydroboost effect on the brakes an unknown. Also if there is slight pressure from a brake rod that is out of adjustment it may not be noticeable without hydroboost assist.

I oredered a pair of brake adjuster hardware kits. I am going to put them on the brakes in case the adjusters are malfunctioning. I'll do a road test after they are installed. If the problem goes away or the over toght condition goes to both wheels instead of just the left I'll know I solved an adjuster problem. In that case I'll put the rear axle on jackstands and test the drag with the engine running. If there is drag I'll know there is something exerting pressure on the brake system. I can check the brake rod and hydroboost in that case.
