Just wanted some opinions(read: Facts) on Superliner spray-on bedliners. I have a "friend" that sprays them part-time(he is a truck accessory dealer who sprays bedliners) at Fantasy Truck in Odessa, MO. I trust the man(Brett Halsey, owner) and his talents as I have used him for some paint work before with excellent results. My question is about the liners. He has been using the Superliner system for about 4 years and has some examples of vehicles at his shop. None of these vehicles have been used very hard(more show'n'go than real-world work). I know several people that have had it done to their vehicles with no complaints but they are in the same category.

I will abuse the bed of my new truck(read: DIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT). I expect it to last with no rust(heard about the paint problems) and few dents(thin metal) so I want to do something.

Hard plastic bedliners are a pain in the a$$ and against my religion. Bed mats are great but don't protect the whole bed(rails). Both of these options are loose fitting; something I don't want. Line-X is tough but too slippery. Rhino isn't slippery but may be too soft. Superliner, as explained to me, is right in the middle. Half sticky, half hard.

I trust Brett and know he will do a good job and stand behind the product. I just want to see if anyone else out there has abused a Superliner and had it survive.

BTW, I haven't heard much about any spray-ons besides Rhino and Line-x. Any others to consider?

Superliner

Yup, I had the Superliner sprayed on about 2-3 years ago. It is peeling off in parts of the bed. I can't say if it is the product or the spray job that was done. I don't think mine was sprayed thick enough. It definitately is not like Linex or Rhino.

I bought a can of Herculiner and will redo the bed.

You might want to see some trucks that your friend has sprayed to see what you think. Be sure to have them spray it thick enough!!!

Good luck.

I'm at the same point with my used (new to me) '06. The bed has been used with minor dents and a fair amount of paint worn off. Looking at Superliner, LineX, or a non franchised "linex" spray on bedliner. It will not see hard use like sschu600's bedliner. Any pros or cons? Looking more for Superliner input since I can't seem to find much on it besides the factory website. Superliner is based out of Austin where I'm living right now, which I see as a plus. I like the UV resistance they talk about. Not crazy about the slickness of LineX.

Does the access panel for the tailgate latch normally get sprayed over, or is it removed, sprayed, and then reassembled.

sschu600, what did you end up going with?

Find yourself a Turboliner dealer! excellent product has the best uv protection and is the newest and most durable product on the market. It also has a nice OEM looking finish.

Speedliner is a non-franchise, smaller operator oriented spray in eurothane two component system. With the Kevlar additive it is the toughest liner available by the specs. And it comes in 16 std. colors or you can tint it to match colors, good product but doesn't have the catchy name recognition marketing gimick...

I would say most any coatings success or failure is dependant on the preperation.

Well, I went with the Superliner two years ago... June 2004. The job was done well and sprayed thickly. Nice to have good friends! It looked great then and still looks great. I work construction/surveying and have put it through the paces. There are a few minor nicks at sharp corners, especially the tailgate, but all in all very durable. Tools are in the bed constantly and don't scrape or slide around, even my cooler. You can't get white so I choose the sliver/gray which has a metallic flake and when washed it still looks very good. I get compliments all the time. I haven't seen the last two products mentioned, but everyone I know that has a LineX or Rhino said they like Superliner better, even my buddy with the LineX AND a bed mat. I don't know if it is the best but it is not a bad choice. I love it!

As for the access panel, it was removed, sprayed, then reassembled. The screws are still bare.

Hope this helps. Not trying to sway you, just saying that this is a good product. Definitely check out your options. My choice was made easier because I knew Brett would back up the product and his shop is 20 minutes away form the house.

There is a lot to be said for a good dealer!

Thanks guys,

I'm headed out on a road trip to pick up my ARE MX truck cap among other things. I'll hold off on making a decision until after I get back, even though it means I'll have to take the cap off and put it back on. I got bad feedback on the dealer who I'm getting the cap from in regards to skilled/careful labor, so I'm not going to have them do the bed liner (linex type, not franchised). I'll let you know after I get back what bedliner I get. Thanks again.
