I need some adivice, and some new oil! I now have 45,000 on my 03' 305/555 and I am out of my bumper to bumper warrenty... . And my service connection is no longer at my dealership. I have been running Castrol Syntec (Synthetic) since 10,000 miles, however, I would love to switch/run AMSOIL (I have used it in my snowmobiles for years). Is anyone here a distributor in the Chicago area that I can buy from, or is anyone willing to ship to me? Also, since I am no mechanic (Never claimed to be), what weight oil should I be running during the colder months in Chicago?

I would also welcome any other options / choices in oils you may have, as well as oil filter suggestions.

Thanks!

I'm no dealer yet, but you can become what Amsoil calls a "Preferred Customer". The fee they charge for that is almost made up in the saving on your first purchase and they ship it directly to your door. I usually get mine in 3 days or so.

You can run the HDD 15W-40 or their 5W-40. I use the 15W-40 and had no problems at all last winter here. Stick with the Fleetguard Stratapore or Donaldson oil filters or you could get a 4-2-1 kit from Geno's.
