STUPID, or just slow learners?

Taking Photos .......

Wife and I are planning on going to Aruba this winter for a week to burn up her frequent flyer miles while Northwest is still operating. Just wondering about stuff we should see or do. I would like to go deep sea fishing, snorkeling, and view the sites on the beach :-laf

Thanks,

Paul

Mom and Dad just got back from their first trip to Aruba 3 weeks ago...

They stayed at the Tamarijn Aruba Beach Resort (I still have the phone number written down - 011-297-582-4150). They really liked this hotel and highly recommend the 'mega all-inclusive' package. It's all you can drink and eat. It allows you to eat/drink at another nearby resort for free - for a change of scenery, etc. They're not big drinkers or eaters (I make up for it! :D ), but the convenience of not having to deal with paying for every meal and choosing exactly what you want and not worry about the expense was worth it. (I did an 'all you can swill' package back in '98 when I was on spring break in Cancun - it's the only way to fly, IMHO. )

Dad highly recommends a day-long (also all you can drink, etc. ) snorkeling trip on the Island Paradise. It's a BIG yellow catamaran and he said it was like $35/head and was a blast.

He also recommended renting a Jeep and touring the 'backside' of the island. He had a blast off-roading across coral and whatnot... he said he would definitely do this again when he goes back.

Dad also reports that the famous natural bridge has fallen - so you can still go see it, but it's just a pile of rubble. :)

Have a great trip! From the good reports my parents have given me... I'm putting Aruba on my 'must visit' list.

Just watch Fox news long enough, and you'll SWEAR that you've been there for stay that was way too long..... HAHAHA.

Natalie Hollway has been to Aruba. I think she's still there

Thats just COLD. :( May I assume you don't have a daughter?

The Hyatt has the nicest hotel. Scenery on beaches is pretty good. Eat at El Gaucho for some great steak. The sun is HOT. Bring something to cover up with. I mean it is HOT HOT HOT. Sunsets are spectacular. Make plans to sit on the beach and watch one or two. Worth it.

I stayed at the La Cabana. Clean but cheap hotel.

I would do a cruise before going back. Just my personal preference.

Have a great trip!

I have thick skin though... planet earth requires it

Well, I agree with that statement.

However, I think there is a difference between humor and downright cruelty. There is a mother who has no idea where her daughter is. She does know that she was most likely gang raped and murdered. And she doesn't even have her daughters corpse to bury. For whatever poor choice Natalie made that night NO ONE deserves that.

Making light of that horrible event is simply poor taste in my opinion.

Lots of things changed three years ago when my son was born. Even more things changed when my daughter was born last year. Perhaps I grew up, perhaps I see things in a different light, or perhaps I am just a little less tolerant of cruel or hateful statements because I am a parent. I cannot even begin to imagine what the Holloway family is going through. I hope I never have to. I hope no one in the TDR family ever has to.

I do not accuse you of being hateful or even cruel, all I ask is that you think about the comment you made a little. Is this really the type of person you want to be?

OK, Flame suit on. I have thick skin. Fire away.

Oh, and MNClvr - sorry for hijacking your thread.

No need for the flame suit as I have no intention of debating this. I crack jokes on occasion and I'm not delusional enough to believe that everyone will see or appreciate the humor. Obviously you don't, and I can live with that. No need for drama.

What??? No controversy??? No flames?? Must not have posted this on the DieselSlop forum :-laf

Hey, thats what makes TDR so great. We can make our points and agree to disagree. I can live with that.

Drama

I went to Aruba for my honeymoon on Sept 10 2001 flying out of Newark NJ and stayed at the Aruba Marriott. Despite the catostrofic events the following day we have a great time. We rented a car and drove all over the island. There is even a drag strip on that lil island. PM or post here if you would like some more info. JB
