I'm trying to find out if the rear 12x3 brake drums from Dodge come with the balance weights on them. The part number is 03496563. I have a print out of some dealers that have them in stock. I tried calling one to find out if they have weights on them, before my dealer here orders any. I don't want them to have to return anything I order, because it costs them to return something. But, the dealer I called said that they are stapped in the box, and he really didn't want to cut the straps or destroy the box to get inside incase he has to ship them somewhere. If anyone is wondering, I made the mistake of buying the cheap unbalanced "china made crap" drums when I rebuilt my truck, only because the parts store said that's all they could get. Well now my truck has a creaking noise from the left rear brake, and a vibration around 70. For anyone who has had the rear drums off of a truck like ours knows it isn't as easy as taking the wheel off and just sliding the drum off after that. So if I'm going to tear into it again, I'm buying the good stuff, and throwing that china made crap on the scrap pile where it belongs. Thanks, Alex

I didn't think there was a difference in the 12x2. 5 and 12x3 drums? Thought it was only the shoes and wheel cylinders.

I would think the parts guy would at least pop the straps to have a look, it isn't electrical parts etc. and your not leaving and returning with them. I would insist to have a look or shop elsewhere.

I've bought drums from parts stores, and they have weights on them. Have you checked into other possibilities for your vibration? I have mucho expereinco in this area.

I'm sure its possible to be getting the vibration from somewhere else, but knowing that my drums now aren't balanced, I want to try them first. The real aggrivation is the brake creaking, but I'm 99% sure I know why. So if I have to take everything apart to fix that I want to get better drums while I'm at it. I figured that the more expensive drums like "Bendix" probably come balanced, but they would cost almost the same as the ones from Mopar, which is probably who makes them anyways. I don't know, but I think they may come painted from the dealer, I noticed the master cylinders do. Where did you buy your drums from that came balanced?
