Hi guys, sorry I didn't get back sooner, I had to take a trip to haul a car. The answers to your questions are;

1. Yes it was an HO

2. It sold for 19,500.

Traded my 01 in at 433,000. I only have 51,000 on my 04. 5 as of today, but Ive only had it since June. She's made 3 trips to Wyoming, 3 trips to New Mexico, 1 trip to Sheboygan Falls Wisconson, 1 trip to Havensville Kansas, and I'll be trecking up to ColdWater Michigan hopefully before the weekend. check back with me in May and she'll be rolling 100,000.

It went to the dealer the day after I bought her. Some codes popped up and the dealer cleared them. Still no problems.

She pulls a 8,300 lb (empty) 36ft. gooseneck a 16ft gn, and a 16ft stock trailer. I would not consider ever buying anything without a cummins in it.

Hey jnelson, you said you traded in your 01 with 433k miles on it, how much did the dealer give you for it? My 98 has 205k miles on it and I am considering trading it in, instead of trying to sell it on my own.

My neighbor has about 150k on his 03 s/b 6 speed 4x4 3. 73 gears. Mostly towing a 3 horse trailer. First set of tires went about 90k. Bought 3 tires and used the spare. Serviced diffs,trans,transfer case at 90k for first time. Brakes still look good at 150k. Air and fuel filters every 15k and oil and filter every 7500k. alt bracket cracked at 100k and they wanted $2 bills for it and FINALLY goodwilled it. He bought the powersteering hose TSB update at 125k or so. Never has been aligned,same shocks,wiper blades etc. Said the other day thinking about servicing running gear again and adjusting valves. Every now and then I link him a e/mail from the diesel sites and he's like WOW! Whats this about ball joints,pulls,poor headlights etc. His is a EARLY 03 in fact I think build date is late 02. Says its the best car/truck he's EVER owned. Never pulls over 70 in fact trys to stay at 68 mph. Pulled three horses from Delaware to Florida and overhead showed 16. 2 mpg.

Wow! And I thought my guys put on some miles. My dually, which is the preferred hauler is up over 75k miles and the Quad is at about 52k miles. Of course mine are just regional hauls 3-500 miles a day but they are heavy, 15k going down and 8k coming back. Both are HO autos and haven't needed anything but tires, and regular service. They are doing so well that I bought one for personal use, replacing an '03 Duramax/Allison. The only thing I miss are the front seats. I wouldn't buy another GM anything, way too many stupid recalls and failures. The Dodges have been much better trucks for me.

He uses Rotella 15w40 and NAPA filters. Got another friend that wanted a D/max and test drove both. Priced both and looked under the hoods. Next moring in a hour drove off with a bright red all the bells and whistles 2500 s/b auto 48re 2 wd. Pulls a three horse bumber pull Sooner and a cargo trailer full of seman tanks etc. he has about 75k same tires,brakes,etc. has never changed a fliud yet. Same deal 7500 oil and filters,15k on fuel filters and almost 30k on air. Says yea the air filters are nasty but thats what there for. (x air line captain)LOL. I mention maintance to him its like a deaf ear. He drives it like its a damn Porche. I hate going any where with HIM pulling a trailer threw Tennessee or Kentucky over mountains etc. thinks its a salom course. But his tires look good and not much brake wear last check. Neither friend read these forums,have not much of a clue to add on stuff like boxes etc. Both have read the maintance books kinda. The ex air line captain says things like THE BOOK says air filters at 30k and by gawd its 30k. He has driven his DADS D/max and anothe friends 6. 0 stroke and vbought his wife a NEW Toyota extra cab v6 thing. Said THERE JUNK compared to driving his truck. I said you mean the Toyota also. He said it dosent stop,handle or get the FUEL mileage his does. Tells his dad and friend with the 6. 0 stroke to go buy a REAL truck. Neither have used any fuel additives and the only warranty on the Red truck was a broken seat lumbar and the powersteering hose TSB which I told him to do. He was like WOW its REALLY smooth driving now.

I like reading post like this on the high mileage work horse Cummins. Kinda makes you feel like the ones of us that don't tow heavy or long miles really are just babying our trucks. We'll probally be the one's having the most mechanical problems over all by not working them hard like they were intended to do in the first place. :-laf

I know my neighbor shows no mercy with his 2wd 03 HO/6-speed with close to 100K.

Tony

My '03 dually will turn 147,000 by the time I get back tomorrow from Lafayette, Lowsyanna. Have had to do nothing but replace tires, u-joints, and one hub-bearing assembly on front end. She gets an oil and filter change every week and the air cleaner gets washed and re-oiled every 3 weeks. Only made one run last week or she would be closing in on the 150,000 mark.

I am seriously thinking about the AFE intake system with a torque tube... anyone have this? What are are thought on it?

swordfish - $7,000. 00

I only got that much because the truck was in incredibly good shape. It still had the dealer plastic in the rear floor board. the truck was bombed 409,000 of the 433,000 miles. The PS/dmax boys can throw the bombed trucks doesnt last as long theory out the door. It never leaked a drop of oil except when we replaced the seals between the ps pump and the vacum pump.
