Take off the particulate filter that is? I'm sure somebody out there has at least been thinking about it. I'm curious what will happen, certainly there will be an aftermarket kit to do it eventually, but I wonder what happens when you just sawzall the thing out and replace with a piece of pipe.

Your truck won't pass inspection, CEL light comes on and you get a nice big federal fine. That is what will happen here in NY, not sure about Wyoming.

Nothing to worry about here as far as inspections, tests, or fines. I'm just wondering what happens if you cut it out. For example, let's say you smash it on a rock in the back country, and you don't have much choice but to remove it. Will the engine still run?

I don't care about what the dealer says it will do, or what "The Man" might do. I'm just seeing if anyone has actually removed one yet, and what the truck actually does with it removed.

Of course it would still run but probably at 50 or 25% power untill the "problem" was resolved.

Atleast untill aftermarket comes up with some type of module that keeps the ECM happy.
