I am kind of confused, these "self tapping" screws that need to be used to install the top section of my rear flares (3 each side) are not consistent with "No drilling required" as I was told sevral times. They don't look like any "self tapping" screw I've ever seen. They look more like drywall screws. I am considering predrilling even though they "don't require drilling".

Any install tips from the experienced would be most helpful.

They, the sheet rock looking screws, will drill right through the sheet metal. Be sure not to over tighten or they will strip in the thin sheetmetal. It would be a good idea to pre drill with a pretty small bit; that way the screws won't walk on you and scratch the paint. I am looking at a set of the chrysler flares (the same ones used on the Powerwagon). They sell for $320.

Thanks for the confidence builder JungleDave. Those are nice flares but in no way would they flare out enough to cover my rubber. I ordered mine from Dodge figuring they would be Mopar. I picked them up yesterday and they are ATS! Parts guy said they put ATS on all the rigs on the lot.

Flares

I put mine on last night. Install went great. Ime running 35-12. 50 cepec fc2s on stock weels they cover great. I paid 425. 00 for mine painted to match very happy with them

Don't worry they do look good, just take your time and it helps if you have a helper. See my gallery for the pictures.

ATS Sent me the wrong kit and overnighted me a new one which I got this morning. The "self tapping screws" in this new kit are REALLY self tapping.

Silverram - how much effort (customization) was needed to get the Mopar flaps to work with your flares? I didn't think they'd work with them.

silverram03, I've been looking at the Cooper Tires you have for the last couple of months. Are they 33x12. 5? What do you think of them?

There is was very little customization involved. I just bought the flat mud flaps (came with all necessary hardware) and drilled them in. Although I did use one of the screws that anchor through the flare and into the original factory position on each mud flap.

These are without a doubt the best tires I've had. They are fairly quiet and are great in wet sloppy snow, mud and good on ice. The size is as you stated 33x12. 50x17. I was looking for B. F. G. s but they were in national backorder, along with just about everybody else when I was looking for new tires. Another tire you might consider would be the Dick Cepek FCII they look like a pretty good tire.

The Cooper S/T's and the Dick Cepek FCII are the exact tires I had in mind. I had BFG's before and they were quite good. Just looking for something a little different this time. 9 out of 10 4x4's run BFG All-terrain T/A's around here.

SilverRam03, nice looking flares, I was wondering if you could tell me how wide they are. I just put a scratch in my fender about 7" above the rear wheel well and was wondering if these would cover... Thanks!

I got the install done today. Those "push pins" for the rears are a bear. Gotta be a better idea. No way in hell I'll be able to reinstall my Mopar flaps with my BFG 315's. I had to take the cutting wheel to the ATS fenders to stop some rubbing. Also cut away some of the metal down there to stop rubbing I already had. I did a clean job and it looks real good.

Fenders cover all the exposed tire I had sticking out in the rear. . whew! It looked kind of goofy.

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone. On to the next "must have".

That's going to be a grill of some sort.....

The flares only cover about 4" above the wheel well on the rear and front. How big is the scratch? Could it be filled and wet sanded?
