Any Older Fords using a Stewart Warner Performance Tach?

I have been thinking about this possibility also... . as I have come across a couple good 2wd deals, but I want 4wd. I'm thinking that a leaf spring mounting would be the easiest way to go? Would love to see some pics from anyone who has done one of these!

To me in my opinion youd be betteroff to use the coils since its on the truck already ,just put taller spring buckets on and the accompaning hard ware , or just by a frame and swap every thing over

One of the reasons I was considering this option is that I already have many of the needed big $$$ items as I had purchased these to convert my Crew Cab to a manual (NV4500) transmission.

So if I found a manual 2wd... all I have left is crossmember, drive shaft, TC linkage and of course mounting the D60 in place... .

;)

It isn't as hard as what alot of people think but what I will tell you is that its alot of paper work (thinking) to make it work and in good time. The nice thing about the Dodges is that the frames are very similar between the 2wd and the 4wd. Like said above coils would be the way to go and get the taller buckets. What you may consider doing is going to a wreking yard and getting a wrecked from frame section just so you can do a good comparision and then once you have figured it all out get all the needed parts for the swap.

I did a 2wd to 4wd on a GMC and it was a pain in the ***** but that was my own fault... I went fully custom!

Good luck and go for it if you really like the truck that much... RyanB

I think that a couple of guys over at pavementsucks.com have done leaf spring conversions (1 w/ a ford hp60) on 2nd gen Dodge's. I did a quick search but didn't find any particularly good threads to link for you.

thanks... I'm sure it can be done. I'm convinced that the frames are the same except a crossmember, and a handful of brackets. I got my coil spring bucket from the dodge dealer for $3 a piece. They were a recall item in 94-95. I'm anxious to talk to someone that has actually done a swap.
