Paint is not the only thing I'm disgusted with but I still love the truck. Mainly the engine, soft clutch, easy shifting transmission and exterior looks. I sold my stock '99 F250 PS yesterday for $18500 cash. Could have gotten more if it had been an automatic and mileage had been under 100000. It had 115000 miles and had less paint damage than my '03 Dodge with 14500 miles. Wonder what the Dodge will sell for in 5 years with all the add-ons it has...

Try 3M Anti-Chip spray

I live down a 1/2 mile gravel road that loads up in the tires and tends to chip the paint. 3M makes an anti-chip spray that you can treat your lower panels with. It's clear and feels a little rubbery. Most auto paint supply stores should carry it. I had a Toyota 4X4 this stuff looked and worked great on.

I have had a 95, 2000 and now the 2003. My 2003's paint is terrible. My rockers, in less than a year, look terrible. Mud flaps haven't helped. I have a choice of having it repainted or having the rockers coated in Rhino liner. Ugh!

Does it come in colors? Can the clear be put over any paint? I may do my new nerf bars as they are already getting chipped up.

Scratch remover

I found a product to remove small surface scratches that works pretty well. It is called GS 27 scratch remover and I bought it at Pep Boys auto parts. I used it on my last Dodge truck and when I traded it in, it did not have any noticeable dings or scratches. The tube states that is safe to use on clear coat. Just put a dab on a clean cotton cloth and rub it in with a little elbow grease and most of the ding or scratch will fad out. If you look very closely, you can still see the mark, but it gets rid of most of it. I don't recall what I paid for it, but I used it for a couple of year on my old truck, used it a couple of times on my 03 and I still have half a tube left, so it's a pretty fair investment. I was looking at the tube and see that they have a web site: www.gs27.com. By and by, I do not sell this, own stock in the company or anything else. It is just a product that I have found that works pretty well for me and I am just passing it on.

Blakers:

It has been over 6 years since I used it. I'm gonna buy some the next time I'm in San Antonio. My recollection of it is that you can paint it over most kinds of paint and it's relatively easy to apply.

It'll be a couple of weeks before I can get some and apply it to both of our Rams.

As far as the bed goes I think this truck is tougher. My 02's bed interior was thrashed after a freak accident required the tossing of 3 5 gallon propane tanks in. Dented floor, bent wheel wells, dented side walls. My girlfriend dropped our 28 ft stock trailer off the g/n hitch onto the bed floor and it made a smaller dent than any of those propane bottles did!!!!
