This has happened to me a couple of times. After a long uphill pull at 70mph at a steady 30lbs of boost and 1100* egt for 15 or 20 minutes. Once I reach the top of the hill and start down the other side. The truck will act like it is letting out a si of releaf. No loss of power or throttle responce. Just a wierd quiet like turbo stop spinning or the engine fan stop. Anyone else felt this before or am I pushing the engine to hard and maybe hurting something. Any thoughts on this would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

You're just hearing your fan disengage. It engages on the way up when you're running hard so you don't notice it. When you go down and don't have your foot in it so far the noise change is noticeable.

Where do you find 15 or 20 min hills @70mph?

Lurch

Yakima Wa. Hills

I don't know about 15 or 20 minutes but the hills coming out Yakima Wa. going East are some long ones and I held the speed limit up most of them and felt as if I got my moneys worth with this truck. It really will pull to the point I get worried about harming it but all the gauges are well within limits it's kind of exciteing to run that hard, hope it's not kind of expensive.

What Lurch said. I've had mine cut on in the mountains out east. Must really scare the he!! out of someone next to you when it kicks on, because inside it sounds like 747 winding up.

With the black truck mine runs alot around town under the summer sun, even though the motor doesn't get hot it does get hot enough under the hood to kick it on in stop and go traffic. First couple times pulling in the hills last spring it did surprise me.

RichB59, You are right the hill I am talking about is from Vantage to Elk Heights rest stop. Not a 20 minute run but a good 10 or 12 mile pull. I also know the hill between I-90 and Yakima you are talking about. It is a rush pushing your truck that hard knowing that with the right BOMB's. This is what are trucks are made for.

Hey EKarr, try west bound Hwy 14 out of Sheridan Wyoming... . Theres a good one... Or I hear Hwy 9 going to Breckenridge Colorado is a good pull too.

It is normal... ... the engine probably is letting out a sigh of relief... . but don't let it fool you... . it has lots more to offer if you ask it too.
