I have a slight oil leak between the pan and trans. Could be rear main seal? :( Oil spot on the drive the size of quarter over night. Thanks, Jim.

You should take it to the dealer. So they can order a new pan gasket, rip it up, stomp it in grease and oil, then tighten the pan with your old gasket in place. That should get them a couple of hours from DC on your warranty.

A guy who I talked to, that worked for a Dodge dealer years ago, told me that's how they did it. Sure makes you confident in their service.

I just rolled to 10k and i have had to clean out my drain bottle in the front it was geting my engine oily. But every thing else seems dry.

I have what sounds like the same problem. I carried it to the dealer 2 times and asked about it and they said they could not find any oil. Would not let me in the bay to point it out. (A blind man could see the oil) There is usually a drip on about 3-4 pan bolts along the back of the pan.

I heard they would have to pull the transmission to replace the pan gasket so I am going to let it ride. Does not leak bad enough to drip in the drive.

Already extended my blowby hose and removed the bottle from the end. This did not help. (This is what dealer said was causing it- if there was oil)

Good luck.

Trany leak

My '98 5 speed just started seeping out the front seal (I assume) the other day. It was 100% dry and all of a sudden it started to seep. No drips on the ground yet but just enough to wet the bell housing. If I let it collect long enough I can get enough on my finger to smell it which tells me it's gear oil. Anyone else have a 5 speed do this?

It has about 74k miles on it now.

Well guys- It's definetly engine oil, not trans. Yes I do have an automatic. Gonna try the oil pan bolts... ... . Jim.
