I've had my truck for a little over a year and a half, and put a tad over 20,000 miles on it. In this time, I've burned out 6 fog light bulbs, the two that were in it when I bought it, and 4 that I replaced. Starting to get pretty irritated. Anybody else have this problem, or is there a different brand of bulb to use? I think I've been using Sylvania's, in a blister pack w/a blue background. Forget what wattage, but it is the higher of the two listed in the book, and was the same as what was in my truck when I bought it (used). And yes, I'm careful not to touch the glass during installation.

Yes I've had that problem with both of my trucks. I finally gave up and bought a set of lights and holder fixtures that PIAA makes just for the dodge fog lights. No problem anymore!

No problems in almost 2 years and 36,000+ miles. I always turn on the fogs with the headlights at night and almost half my miles are at night due to my shift. Still on the original bulbs.

A lot of times the cause of this problem is a bad seal in the light housing. It allows condensation to form and puddle inside, and if you have the bulbs on, they get hot, then you hit a bump and that tiny bit of condensation splashes up and hits the hot bulb, kind of like when you spit on a lightbulb. OK, it's exactly like that.

Pete,

The higher wattage bulbs are overheating in the housings, that's all..... DC uses 35 watt bulbs in those factory fogs... ... ... Between the light guage wire and the higher wattage bulbs you're using they can't handle it... ... ... . upgrade to PIAA fogs I have read that they make a replacement for our factory fogs... ... Knowing WHY things happen is a mission in life for some... ... ... ..... Not me though... ... ... . learned it the hard way... ... .

I was kind of afraid you guys would say that. I didn't realize they only used the 35W from the factory, since there are two listings in the book and mine came with the higher watt ones. Any idea on ballpark price on the upgrade lights? I hate to loose any light from the fogs with my crummy headlights.

Pcorssmit,

My Piaa lights were 185. 00 for the lights and fixtures. I know that sounds like alot, but the PIAA lights are functional and not decorative like the factory lights. Besides, I'm sure I paid pretty much 25% to 50% more up here than you guys down in the Lower 48 will pay.
