My 2001 quadcab has about 4000 miles on it. Every time I drive down a dirt or rough road the doors squeak. I don't mean just a little bit, they make a lot of noise. It's kind of a rubber on rubber squeak. They shut tight and I don't get any wind noise or anything, just a lot of squeaking. Just wondering if anyone else had noticed this and what might be done to fix it.

Chace, make sure that your Quad doors are closed firmly. I'll usually get a squeak on the passenger side if I don't have the quad door closed tight. Usually you can if it's slightly open by trying to shake the quad door while it's closed to see if you get a squeak. If it is, just open it up and close it a bit harder to make sure it latches tight.

I just discovered Aggie J's solution yesterday and he's right. In addition, mine was squeaking pretty bad when going over uneaven terrain. A mechanic at the dealership did a "chiropractic" move he learned from his body shop days. He grabbed the door edge just above the handle with his right hand, put his left hand on top of the top and "popped" the door inward. Scared the heck out of me. Stopped the squeak though. There was a little uneaveness at the top of the doors and his solution solved that problem. Along with Aggie J's tip (which means a good firm closing of the rear door) I have no noise, wind or squeak.

While were on the subject of doors. This is the first vehicle i have owned that has no warning light that a door is not closed. What is the deal? was it another deletion? or is my truck messed up. I cant tell you how many times after driving somewhere, when i got out i would notice the passenger door was not fully closed.

I have never seen a truck with a warning light for that?? Seen it on plenty of cars but never a truck. I have noticed the increaded amount of diesel rattle is a pointer for me.

TIP lol I just thought of this today. I imagine we can greatly extend the life of our door hinges if we DO NOT shut the engine off with the doors open. With the amount of shake the CTD has on shutdown It can't be good to have a door open when we shutdown.
