Anyone ever have their coach or fifthwheel remodeled?

Anyone ever had the interior on their coach or 5ver remodeled? I wonder if it's cost effective versus buying a different trailer?

We've been trying to sell our 36' toy hauler without much luck as the market has dumped. We have plans to replace it with a traditional style bunkhouse 5ver but until I can get the toy hauler sold, we're stuck.

I'm content with the size of our current trailer but no longer happy with the interior floor plan, cabinets, colors etc.

I've seen lots of before and after pics of remodeled coaches that are truly amazing.

Why can't you trade the toy hauler in when buying a new BH model? I know you may not get the best price for the toy hauler but at least you will get something for it.

That's what I did with my old 5er when we got the new one. The dealer sold us the current 5er at the show price that was listed which was about 30% off and then took our current 5er in on trade on top of that. We ended up paying only $14,500 for or current 5er which we now have.

Just a suggestion.

Check with Dutch and Di on this website. They had theirs remodeled and the exterior repainted a few years ago.
For the cost of the remodel you will probably be better off trading for the slightly reduced value to get what you really want.

You don't say what brand and year Toy Hauler you have. Without knowing that, I can't give you an honest opinion of your situation.

For us, it was done because we loved our 5th wheel and couldn't find anything out there we liked better so it was an easy decision. Also the costs were so much lower than buying a new one. I was thinking about a total gut out inside. New cabinets, flooring, etc and adding a wall/door combo, essentially making the rear queen bed bunks into a separate room like the garage model toy haulers.

I talked to the mfg last week and they told me it was doable and that the remodel would cost roughly half of what we initially paid for the trailer. If this is the case, I might drive down to So Ca and see what they have to offer. I really don't want to buy another $50k trailer right now.

One thing that might help your decision. How much do you love your current RV? That will go along way in helping you decide. For us, we looked off and on for a bit over 2 years and there was always something that ours had-layout, an addition or improvement we made, etc-that kept us from buying new. We loved our layout, length and knew the interior/exterior was well maintained. If you are just so-so about your current one or don't know how much longer you will be RV'ing, putting more money in it it might not be the way to go.
We went with an independent RV contractor because we could inspect their work and felt we could get better pricing. Of course, our manufacturer had shut down. An internet search for RV re modelers might get you some pricing to at least compare to what your mfg is quoting.

Other than wishing we had a kitchen slide, we like our trailer length- 36' triple axle that weighs quite a bit less than the GVWR of the trailer so that leaves us lots to play with. We also love being able to drop the back door and zip down the bug screen for fresh air flow.

Basically, we enjoy the openness of a toy hauler but want the amenities of a regular fifth wheel. We paid $54k for this thing but if we bought a comparable standard 5th wheel, we could have had a pretty nice bunkhouse 5ver. The toy haulers in my opinion are so over priced but if ya need a toy hauler, ya need a toy hauler and we did for several years. The toys are gone now so it's time for us to turn the page.

Dang you! Just when I have forgotten about that super awesome custom trailer, you bring it back to life!!!!

I can see the look on my wife's face when I tell her that we're selling stock to do a custom build.
