Anyone ever have to replace the door lock/window button bezel?

The front screw hole post on the drivers side bezel broke, causing my door lock and window buttons to drop down whenever I used them. Popped off the door liner and saw that the post had broke clean off, flush with the underside plane of the bezel. Called a few dealers for pricing and they all quoted between $25 and $30 for a replacement bezel. Way to much for a flat piece of plastic, in my opinion so I gave J-B Weld first crack at it. I mixed up a 2 pea-sized blobs of steel and hardener, then applied it to both the flat plane where the screw hole post mates to the plane, and also around the post and on the plane itself. Used a rubber band to hold the button assembly in place until it set, then reinstalled it (snaps right into the arm rest). I've had mixed results with J-B Weld, but so far so good on this repair. I also got an evil thrill by avoiding (so far) going the expensive dealer route. I tried to figure out a more durable way to fix it, but because of the way it's designed I don't see any alternative to using some kind of adhesive or epoxy to reattach it. It torques me that the dealer prices for such minor parts are so expensive. A friend was quoted a price of $60 for the coin holder that goes in the console. Junk yard sold him one for $5. If the bezel breaks again that will be my next route for repairs.

Funny. I just put a new door switch bezel on my 04. 5 yesterday. I got mine on Ebay from an Arizona dealer. I think I paid $21 shipped.

This just happened to my 04. 5 last week. We need a recall. lol

If I had known I could get one for $21 I would have been tempted to do it. But the J-B Weld was already in the desk drawer and it only took 20 minutes to fix so I guess I can't complain.
