I was just curious if anyone has made their own setup for changing the governer cut off rather than spend $125+ on a couple of springs?

The govenor of your pump is one of the few places NOT to experiment.

Piers went through lots of springs in testing before he got it right.

My advice to you is to spend the money and don't hurt your pump its the most expensive part on your truck.

Just my 2 cents.

Very well said MDW. CMartin I've given Piers' a WHOLE LOT MORE then $125 and I still feel as though I owe him concidering what he has given in return he/they (PDR) are #1, in many respects. Jeff

You can turn your stock springs in about two clicks or intil you cant adjust your idle low enough that adds about 2-300 rpm fueling

Those Bosch springs are very high quality and aren't cheap. Neither is it cheap to get the custom seats machined and hardened. In quantity, sure, there is a little profit to stay in business, but it is far less than you might guess. Also, the spring tensions and seat heights are very important for driveability vs. rpm capability. Assuming you had a bin full of various Bosch springs and seats, you could spend a lot of time trying to get a good setup.

You can go only a few clicks before idle quality suffers. If you dyno you may find that "full" fueling at upper rpm is far from full using stock springs. I did, even with spring seats shimmed and more clicks.

When you guys are talking a few clicks, what exactly are we clicking (turning)? I have to assume we are talking about the LOWER adjustment on the back of the pump that Piers refers to as the "secret" adjustment? If not, please do tell me where tp find it.

When I say full fuel I mean it doesnt defuel until 3800 I had to re adjust my idle it was a little high like around 1500 but it idles fine now at 900 and I do know if you turn them too much it will run like crap.

Smokin, the max fueling decreases with rpm well before the breakover or governed speed.

C, the clicks are on the screw on locks at the tops of the governor spring packs. You can access them through the torque plate hole or the side cover on the gov housing.
