Hey guys I just was looking at some of the good deals you can find off of the internet such as Auto wharehouse. Has anyone ever tried ordering a truck from one of these places. How did it work out and which place diod you use. I am planning on ordering within the next couple months. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

There are several GOOD Dodge dealers that will sell on line. Barry has one near him that several TDR members have purchased through and have been satisfied. Some in OR. , and MONTANA and others that have saisfied TDR customers.

Check out wwcd2's sit for another link

Check out http://www.broadwaydodge.com/. They sell for $149 over invoice, no gimics. I bought mine there. I made the first contact via the internet, and the rest was phone, etc. as they are local to me. They are located in Littleton Colorado.

If you search the archives you can read about my terrible experiences with driveoff.com(out of buisiness now) and carsdirect.com.

The biggest thing i can caution you on is to be very very clear on where/how the car is going to be delivered. I have to drive 175 miles to go pick up my new truck, and they said that was normal.

Another thing to watch out for is ordering. If you are going to try to factory order thru the web, insist on previewing the final 'build' sheet, and having a copy of the order that the DEALER sent to the factory sent to you. I managed to get a black truck when i ordered a white one. . imagine my surprise after driving 175 miles to go get it.

I would just generally recommend that you go to the web as a last resort. And if you have to, get EVERYTHING faxed to you for approval prior to agreeing to anything.

Last thought, remember that you ARE paying them money to find the truck for you. After everything was said and done, i could have gotten within 300$ thru one of the many recommended dealers from here, without the hassle. If i had to do it all over again, i would have called gennessee valley (spelling?) or ). 1 800 BOSSIER ask for Johnny Bennett. He is the Gen. Sales Mangler johnny@bossiercountry.com.

I found out (too late) that when they do a factory order, they can do a 'courtesy delivery' to the dealer of your choice, irregardless of who you ordered it from, but you have to set that up at the time of the order.

Good luck on your quest and let us know what you ended up doing.

Last september, I had an 01. 5 eth on order from carsdirect.com. They were really helpful when it came time to take my order and after I faxed them a copy of my deposit, it seemed like it was going to happen. Their price was pretty good, lower then anything I found. But when it was about a week prior to their stated delivery time, I started to call them, email etc. and it suddenly became a ghost town. I called them five times and emailed them 4 times. On the day it was scheduled to be delivered, I had not heard back from them. I shopped on the web and found Redwood City dodge, Near where I live and the fleet manager emailed me back a price that was really close to carsdirect. I went down to redwood city dodge and closed the deal. I then came home and phoned carsdirect at noon and told them I was cancelling the order. I got a call back within 15 minutes. The guy acknowledge that he had been negligent in returning my calls and that he was sorry. I told him if he had returned the calls, he would have sold the truck. Now he lost my business. Redwood city dodge was 99 over.

When I was shopping for my '99, I knew I was moving from Tacoma WA to Northern VT. I was going to buy from Dave Smith, but decided to shop the web for a deal out east. (why put the miles on a new truck if I could find one here??)

So I used the service that Microsoft was connected to (don't recall name). What I liked about them is that they put my desired vehicle out on some newsletter for all the dealers who wanted to use them. I got a call from a local VT dealer who would match the Dave Smith number!

Worked for me!

I bought mine on-line. I put the truck together on the web page and requested a quote. 2 days later I owned my truck with only one differnce it was a two tone white and silver. I had requested All White. I can live with that.

Try http://www.chaprelldodge.com/ They are in Ada Oklahoma and sell more Dodge Trucks outside of Oklahoma than the do in. They had 120 Diesels in stock a couple of weeks ago when I started shopping and gave me a quote at invoice less any applicable rebates or discounts. By the way, Dodge will give an additional $500 discount for Farm Bureau membership, costs $50 a year but must have been a member for at least one month prior to sale. Another $300 discount for a business, can be just a DBA. And of course they still have a $1,000 rebate on 2500 and 3500 the rest of this month.

I bought mine through carsmart.com. They passed the lead to decker Dodge in Hawthorne NJ. We concluded 98% of the details through e-mail. Saved lots of $$$. Like the dealer.

Bought my 2001 from Dave Smith in Kellogg, ID almost a year ago! Great experience... no haggling or cheesy sales person. You can find them at: www.usautosales.com From there I would suggest using their 1-800 number. Might be a long haul for you, but I'm sure you can find a dealer closer to you that would be competitive on price and service. Good luck!

suggest you get several "net bids" to work the game correctly... let each know your doing this... I got mine via the net, shoped 5 states and 6 dealers in my state

I got a couple of good prices from the net. I ultimately decided to use the Costco buying plan. I dealt with a local dealer, and am quite happy.

I dealt with some great people, got to spend my money locally, and got a great deal. Well, it will be a great deal when the order is accepted by the factory. It's all talk until then, right?

You can probably guess what engine / trans combination I ordered...

Jim

P. S. How do I tell the wife? I just did this an hour ago.

I bought mine through carsdirect.com. I am generally satisfied with the transaction. The thing to remember is, that alot of these online dealers are nothing more than auto brokers. They are familiar with the car buying game, and therefore know all of the ups that the dealers get. They generally bid a price, and then offer an even lower price to the fleet sales of a bunch of local dealers. I ended up at Antioch Dodge to take delivery... All of my correspondence with carsdirect was great. The instant I was on Antioch Dodge's lot, sales people and even their fleet guy started feeding me BS. #ad
All in all... Just be sure you know exactly what you want, and document every transaction. For instance, I am really glad I printed all of the pages showing the options I had ordered.
