Anyone experience a continuous "lamp out" chime?

The last 2 mornings on the way to work I have been getting this extremely annoying "Lamp Out" chime intermittently. It doesn't matter if the running lights and headlights are on or off. Around 60-70 MPH the Chime goes off randemly and occasionally lights up the "Lamp Out" light. It will not do it if I'm driving below 60 MPH and when I got out to check the lamps, they are all on and not flickering. Leaves me scratching my head saying WTF? Any ideas?

it was erratic for a couple days then on all the time. turned out to be the license plate bulb on one side. supper easy to replce. walmart $. 98. bang on your lenses and watch for a flicker

I had the same problem. Turned out to be one of the taillight bulbs. I actually had to replace a blown one and the one above it that wasn't blown. After doing that, no more erratic chime.

The same thing just started happening to me, (chiming & lamp out light flashing on dash near odometer) looks like all lamps are working... . hmmm

Most of the time assuming it is not a lamp, it is the tail lamp sockets. They have been on backorder off and on for a couple of years now.

Being all of the lights are controlled by a computer, if it sees a voltage surge it will give you a fault code. In the old days . fuses didn't care until there was real problem, like a short and they burned out, now days if a bulb or a socket is just a little bit loose(you might not see a flicker ) the computer doesn't like it and sends a code ! I had to change my left headlight socket after about 6 months of searching for a problem(import tuners use those high wattage HL bulbs ,so Autozone sells a heavy duty socket that is 100 times better than the cheap stock ones on our trucks ) So the moral of the story ,if you are going to rely on stupid computers instead of fuses, use high quality wiring, rocket science????

JPM, How did you determine which socket was bad? Since all my lights are working fine, this could be a tough one... btw: the chiming isn't as often as it once was, but the lamp out light is still on...

I think I just ran out of ideas and I figured I might try replacing it. I might have wiggled it and found it was causing a problem, (Sorry,I forgot)

You see, I have a set of driving lights tapped into the High beams, with a relay. And Silver Stars. And a Line of Fire. When I started having codes, I thought the add ons were the cause. So I started chasing all the possible problems they could be giving me. I went back to stock everything and for a while it was OK. Then the chimes, and stuff started up again. I was close to giving up and going to a dealer :( Any way the crappy wiring ,IE, the loose contacts between bulbs and sockets are the problem.

Clayton, I'm guessing your dealer might have tweaked your socket contacts ,too?

Yup... I had the same problem with the random lamp out warning and somebody told me about the rear assembly and to get them to swap out the circuit board. They replaced both of them and there has been no problem since.

I did pull the "CHMSL" (third brake light) and found the bulbs loose in the harness which caused it to stop illuminating. Now the chime doesn't come on as frequently, but I still get it randomly. I haven't had time to replace the tail lamp boards yet. I will be doing that next. If that doesn't do it, I will check the head lamp sockets too. I can't believe we designed a socket so cheaply! No wait I do, it is called MCM (Material Cost Management) whose mantra is to make it better and cheaper-there's an oxymoron for you! :p Stupid bean counters! LOL :)
