Cop almost got me Tuesday night. The guy I work with went out with me for a spin so I could show him what the EZ does, turned a corner at a stoplight, got on it, and saw lights go through a red. He followed me for two blocks in before I was able to turn into work. He whipped a u-turn and came back, thinking I would be exiting again and saw us walking into the building. I am assuming the fact that I was in the left lane saved my a$$, otherwise he probably would have got me. I'll have to watch it now, cause I'm sure he'll be watching for me.

On another note, the EZ is great. Milage, according to the computer, has improved drastically. I know the computer isn't perfect, but its average is about . 7 less than mine when I fill up and it's pretty consistent. Unfortunately, I thought the EZ would last me for a while and I would do more in a few months. However, after driving for 10 minutes, I wanted MORE POWER!!! Anyone know a way to get rid of the BOMBing bug, I can't afford to have that thing biting me right now.

I have been straight piped since November of last year and have had no problems. I have pulled up next to city police and I didn't get a second look, even with the officer having his window down. I think it has a lot to do with how heavy your right foot is.
I can cause mine to speak real loud or I can keep her real quiet.

Unless you provoke them cops don't seem to give a crap around here. My friends and I all have "Street Legal" Hot rods and have never recieved a ticket for loud pipes(My dad heard me from 1. 5 miles away one afternoon... oops) But we have all gotten tickets for everything else lol. I think the last thing they will think is your cummins is a hot rod. Thats why we love street racing in Hiperf360s 3500... it looks so innocent.

Last year on our way to Colorado, we stopped in a fairly small town in New Mexico and fueled up. When we pulled out of the little truck stop, we had to take off up a pretty good rise to get up on the highway. Honked down on it pretty hard with the 33' travel trailer in tow. That's when I noticed these two cops with someone pulled over and that's when they both noticed me #ad
As soon as I got up on the highway I backed out of it right away so as to not draw any more attention. They watched me go on by but didn't bother chasing me down. Sheew.

I've been straight-piped for over a year and no trouble from the law. I even got pulled over 3 times in another state for not wearing a seat belt -- never a peep about my exhaust.

I guess a lot depends on what part of the country a person lives in. Here in RI I would be more concerned about the safety inspections than I would the noise factor.

I looked up the DMV regs as they pertain to inspections and they clearly state that a working muffler MUST be in place. Any inspection place could deny a sticker for not having one.

Had a Torino 429 Cobra Jet with Hooker headers and twin Flow Masters and never once had a problem with noise complaints... yet I caught all kinds of grief at inspection time with my Jeep Wrangler because the tires came out beyond the flares. Go figure.

I'll say this, if a cop pulls up beside me I had better let him go first. It won't be the pipe he don't like, it will be the smoke. I don't belive he will be able to see his windshild. Needless to say, I drive with a tender foot.

Chris T. , LMAOF !!! Let's see... how does it go again " I swear Officer, that damned pedal just stuck and that's why I was doing triple digits". "The black smoke is very common with diesels". Am I close ??? #ad
You guys don't have much to worry about IMHO, my personal preference is rice burners with loud radios and 100 HP exhausts #ad

My truck has been piped since the second day i brought it home. I have gotten one ticket and that was b/c some other idiot was rippin hell and they thought it was me. I've gotten pulled over three more times since then, nothing really said though. One of my buddies has gotten three tickets with his 99. Said they would impound it if he didnt put a muffler back on it. But the coming from town cops over in a near by county were people go to cruise everyweekend, so I say the heck with them.

No hassles with Smokey in Kentucky, last 2 times I got pulled over for going too fast, I shut it off BEFORE he got out of the car. If I pull up next to one at a light, I ease off slowly...
They're more interested in busting speeders than anything else in this state. They'll turn a cat burglar or dope dealer loose instead of busting them, if a call comes in over the radio about a speeder. #ad

Gotta say, I'm sweating the prospect of getting stacks... those are a little more obvious than my dual 4" side pipes...
All my friends say, don't worry, just tell the cop you bought it that way, and couldn't hear how loud it was !

OK ,,I'll be the one telling the truth here,,In my area I have been into a discussion or two about my angry sounding ride,BUT,only because I do have a problem with keeping my foot off the big juice pedal,,I do not think its my fault though as I told the last officer(seems he did not like the tires frying thru the intersection, while Furd bashing)If my foot slips of the clutch,WELL poop happens,,Well he promptly discussed the pro's and con's of the citation against my CDL liscense and sent me on my way,,NEVER a word about the exhaust though,,Muffler and cat disappearance?,Try this one for your locals if you get stopped,,But,Honestly Officer,I do not know what happened to them, they were there when I went to bed last nite,MAYBE aliens took them while I was asleep(Beware of the guys with white jackets or Art Bell. . ) LONG LIVE THE THUNDER TRUCKS!!!

Well, I have some numbers for you. It work we decided to test my truck. While idling I am at 80 db two feet from the pipe. I bliped the throttle and it jumped to 117db... this is with no load on the motor..... down the FWY at 2000 rpm I would gues it is over 150db
Yep she is loud and obnoxious (sp). but I love the sound of that turbo spooling down.

I was worried about how mine would sound... it sounds great. If I baby it, it's hardly noticeable and if I jump all over it, simply beautiful plus... no muffler to rust out.

Hammer, you are "beyond safe" IMHO. With all of them college kids racing around your town in their rice burners, who would blame noise on a diesel #ad
My brother in law went to school out there.
