Just wondering if anyone's ever had a TAG come apart and get eaten by the turbo. Another thread got me curious.

GFrance, yup that's what I meant!

A TAG is a honeycomb structure that sits in front of the turbo in an effort to improve airflow at the impeller face.

The particular picture of the damaged TAG showes it to be a proto-type or an early model. I have one just like it. The newer models have a ring/lip that helps them seat into the turbo intake and make contact with the inlet hose. That feature was developed at a fit and finish and for spacing if I recall. It has been a few years since I tested one. I know they will reduce your emessions out the tailpipe as I tested my truck at ODOT's smog station in Scapoose, Oregon. I still have mine, but am not using it at the moment. :)

I have one that I got on a group purchase a while back. Its in its 2nd truck now and still no probs! Wonderful thing to have when you upgrade to a turbo without a silencer ring. :D

Sorry guys I love turbo whistle as much as the next guy, but I also drive A LOT through the year. I can't take it for 4hrs on the interstate.
