Anyone had to change AC clutch?

My AC clutch kicks off for no reason, it's getting voltage but doesn't always work. I can't figure out why, its a simple electromagnet, and it's either on or off but it'll be getting voltage, but still be off. Only thing I can think of is a broken wire or a short or something like that. I'm gonna replace the clutch when I can afford it ($200 damn dealers).

I think TDR member "vc" went though some issues with his AC cllutch recently. He might be one to contact.

check the gap between the pully and the front hub. If its more than 20 thou take off the front hub & remove shims accordingly. ---Sam

I had that problem and the plug in under the compressor was half loose. plugged it in solid and that did it.
