Just wondering folks' experiences with 275s and a box such as an EZ. I'm trying to debate whether or not I want to get some 275s or if it's not really worth it and should get some DDIIs or something.

I'm pretty pleased with the power the truck is putting out now with just the DD TTPM but I do want a bit more power for when I'm towing my travel trailer 9-10k. On the flats the truck is real good but on the big mountain passes I wish I had just that bit more (when towing).

I do like the price of the 275s.

not sure about the box but i have a set of 275's on a stock motor and they are great for the price:D :D this last weekend i went on a trip pulling a 7,000lbs trailer and my buddy (Mr. Ford) also had a 7,000lbs trailer on his 01' and i could flat out smoke him, on hills were he would drop to 60 mph i would pull up next to him, drop a gear and take her upto about 85 mph before i was laufhing so hard i would let off, i found a set from a local shop for $360, a great deal to me. just to add insalt to injury my buddy called the same shop to get injectors for his ride (to fix his pride a little) and they told he $300 a piece:--) sucks for him!! ain't nothing as fine as six in a line!:D

me too

I'm definately watching this post. I found a supplier on ebay but need to know what they will do to a H/O with the DDbox as well.

There HAS to be brothers with this combo out there...

My current set up is dd2 and a comp but i ran 275s and an EZ for a long time on my eth/dee

It is a great combo. I still have my 275s and have been toying with putting them back in for a test as I really think I got better mileage with the 275s. I dynoed at 304rwhp with the 275s and ez on winter fuel. I really do like the adjustability of the comp but he 275s cant be beat for the price.

the 275's will get you 40 HP or so on a 99, with a box they run real nice, 260-275 hp range. Pull like a train and no EGT issues. DD2's are more power, a little higher EGT and a bigger grin. If you can't pull it with DD2's and a box you should not try.

The HO is basically the same story, but about 60 HP out of the 275's. EZ and 275's has hit 310 HP on a couple trucks, the ETH likes the combo.

I ran super mentals in the summer and 275s in the winter with good luck. The 275s with the comp is a mean combo. Egts are controllable. I see you have the dd equivalent to the EZ. If you already have that Id jump on the dd2s without question. Im not sure it wont make a turbo upgrade mandatory. If you can go 275s without updating the turbo you will be getting off pretty cheap. I see you are in a hot climate. Try Fred Swanson. I think he is in AZ. Hed know what you can get away with in the heat. http://www.desertdieselparts.com/ Ive done business with Fred and recommend him highly. Its so cool here I can get away with alot more because of the cool dense air charge. I ran drag comp with super mentals and a stock turbo without meltdown. It got hot dont get me wrong. transmission didnt like it.

I had 275's with a power edge box (the orig Edge fueling box) and it was a great combo... the EGT's did get hot on the highest setting but that was at WOT. I added an EZ to that and drove around most of the time with just the EZ and 275's. . very sweet combo and no EGT trouble at all... .

My Dad now has the 275's with just a boost module on his 98. 5 and loves it. He tows a 34' fiver with no problems...

Check my sig below. Towing a 36' 5'er with 275's and EZ under the hood and a Power Edge, inside the cab. Have only had to use the PE once for a little extra power. 99% of the time only the EZ running. I have the boost elbow and stock exhaust and never seen EGT's over 950F.

I travel fulltime all over N America and everthing we use gets a good workout. This is a really decent setup for the money.

275 and EZ

I is a nice combination, 275 are cheap, try Wildcatdiesel, there on sale right now.

Seems to run cooler and quieter with the 275's.

Not a big kick in the seat of the pants after the EZ,

:D

DC,

Is your EGT post turbo? If not I would not believe my gauge. 275's and the EZ will produce more than that, and with the PE on top of that, 1400+F is easy with the stock turbo, elbow, and exhaust.

275 and ez

i have this combo on my truck just installed the 275 2 weeks ago. The ez is a great add on and the 275 workes very well with the ez they smoothed out the engine alot i have no problem with egt's there is a little bit of smoke when shifting.

When summer gets here you will have more smoke when shifting. I change my EZ jumper to the midle setting during the summer months. In the winter, I move it back to the most aggresive setting. Before I chenged the jumper, I could put out a good cloud in the hot muggy summer months of Houston.

You can use 275s without a boost module without any problems. The 275s seem to work best on the H. O. s and autos. You really can't tell a whole lot of difference on a 5 spd just by adding 275s. If you put 275s and an EZ or Puck on your auto you should be satisfied... . for a while. :)

Running Edge EZ and 275's. They run great, plenty of power, but my fuel mileage went down about 4 mpg. Anyone else have this happen to theirs? I know winter fuel can cause some of this but I've owned it since 98 and it's never done this before. Hate to take them out because it runs so good but with the rising fuel prices I probably will. I had an EZ with my 275's but upgraded to the comp. Clutch slips now on setting 3-3 new southbend going in on monday. I would recommend this setup but plan on getting a clutch/new auto. When you have that much power at your fingertips you will use it.

I thought most folks say they slightly gain when using the 275s??? I'm not willing to give up 4 mpg for an extra 30-40 RWHP. Hmmmmmm.
