I am in the market for a gooseneck enclosed car hauler and want a diesel (onan) generator. I have a forklift available, so I could also take it out and use it for home standby, or leave it in the trailer for that matter. I prefer not to use LP, since this is only a car trailer (not a RV trailer), and do not want to store gasolene in the trailer. I like the idea of diesel, due to safer fuel storage, plus I could transfer diesel via my fuel pressure gage & shutoff valve.

any thoughts on this, anyone have experiance with this setup?

Be careful of storing diesel fuel for any length of time--it'll start growing bugs!

I'd lay in a supply of Biocide for that generator tank...

I have a 7KW PowerTech diesel in my T&E trailer, they installed the fuel tamk if the rear of the compartment. It hasn't been a problem with fumes, but, for our application it is in the rear and the LQ are in the front.

T&E installes a lot of these in the trailers they build and have good luck.

If I had it to do over I might have used the Onan Super Quiet, I have a7. 5KW in my Renegade TOterHOme and it's great.

I don't think you'll be sorry, but, I'm not sure about taking it out and putting it back in.
