About Trailready: The Trailready brand was established in 1997 by Larry Trim and Brent Yeadon, co-owners of RSI, an Everett, WA based custom sheet metal fabricator since 1991. RSI began manufacturing simple diamond plate alum and steel Jeep CJ body protection parts. In early 2000, RSI acquired the intellectual properties of the Road Armor Corp. , another Washington based Jeep accessory manufacturer. This acquisition added the Very Cool and equally hard to produce Wrangler Stealth Acrylic Top along with a variety of Wrangler brush guards and side guards. From 2000 to 2003, RSI continued to introduce a complete line of Jeep, SUV and Light Truck Accessories.

In the winter of 1999, we were preparing one of our CJ7s for the sport of Championship Rock-crawling. Rather than purchase new bead lock wheels, Larry Trim attempted to make his own. Never having looked at the inside of a bead locked wheel, he came up with the off set wheel design for steel bead locks. Brent Yeadon and our design dept. developed our design of the bead lock ring and the rest is history. Trailready ships more bead locked wheels than any other wheel company and can be seen in every rockcrawling event and on any extreme trail, anytime.

All RSI products are manufacture in the Pacific Northwest.

Who is Road Armor: Road Armor's History;

The Trailready brand was established in 1997 by RSI, an Everett WA based manufacturer, engaged in the manufacturing of various body protection products for Jeep vehicles. In 1999, in the process of trying to collect a debt for fabricating services rendered, RSI acquired the intellectual properties of the Road Armor Corp. in an agreement with it's owner. Road Armor filed chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2000. Since early 2000, RSI has designed, engineered and introduced dozens of new Truck and SUV bumper and body protection products. In late 2002, the original founder of the bankrupt Road Armor Corp. , in an attempt to capitalize on RSI's success, introduced a couple of new bumper products, similar in appearance to the Road Armor Series by Trailready. He has published these products at roadarmor.com, He has also published pictures of RSI's Road Armor products on his web site, which were copied from the Trailready web site. He has also claimed credit, by publishing pictures in print advertising and his web site, for the bumpers used the sequel, "2 Fast, 2 Furious" by Universal Studios, an RSI customer. He also claims to be "voted best designed bumper 4 years running" although it's not clear by whom.

RSI is taking the appropriate legal action to remedy this situation as soon as possible and we regret the inconvenience this has caused our customers.

Pics of my Road Armor

Well just wanted to give everyone an update and decided to get a Road Armor. Received it Tuesday and put it on the truck Thursday. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!Oo. The people at Road Armor were great to deal with. If anyone wants a Road Armor, I highly recommend one. I placed my order right before the first of the year, and received it Tuesday which was 2-2, so it was fairly quick getting here considering they custom build each bumper to order. Mine is the base bumper in satin black powdercoat. I have some pics in my readers rig album of the bumper if anyone is interested in checking it out.

tmckenzie,

That REALLY looks good!

A question though: Is the "Road Armor" lettering on the front a decal or something that you can remove if you want? I don't like being an unpaid sandwich board advertizer for anyone and wouldn't want that on mine.

KRS,

the Road Armor in red on the front is a metal plate that comes in two pieces- "Road" and "Armor". They just use two bolts each that are welded to the plates and go through predrilled holes in the bumper and a nut goes on the back side. When you receive the bumper, the metal plates are in a box with the mounting brackets. Theres a local shop around my area that uses a water-jet metal cutting machine and can do some wild things with metal. Im going to go speak with him next week and see if he can possibly cut me a "cummins" plate out of stainless steel to put in place of the "Road Armor". I just put the Road Armor on the front to add some character to it since I dont have my fog lights or winch yet, but those will be in next week, so Ill post more pictures when I get everything in.
