Parts for older 855's

Hey everyone

I live in Marlborough, CT and am willing to travel to Boston area (but would prefer to stick around here). I have a 2001 reg cab that has some front end issues that need to be fixed.

The dealer did some work on it but I'm still having a lot of movement and now my steering wheel is turned 90 deg from it's orginal position (and that's driving striaght!). :{

I am looking for a reputable, trusted, and GOOD mechanic that wron't charge me an excessive amount of $$$$ (of which I don't have much).

Any help would be greatly appreciated... . I can help to a point if needed.

Hi Nicole, sounds like ya got "stealershiped" Crooked steering wheel can be adjusted by turning the collar on the drag link coming off the pitman arm, which is attached to the steering box. Real easy do it yourself in the driveway kinda fix no allingment rack required. loosen 2 bolts holding the collar tight, and grab with some channel locks and turn it until the wheel is straight. You will have to make sure your wheels are pointing straight as possible, so you know when its all good, and make sure your key is turned to the run position so the steering wheel dosent "lock" when it starts turning.

If you dont wanna tackle it come to Derby Coffee night next friday (CT Coffee Nites! 2007 Check for updates weekly - New England Turbo Diesel Power) and we can help ya out with it and try and pinpoint any other issues causing slack in the system ( we have all been there:rolleyes:) Another alternative is shooting Jleonard a PM on this site, his son has a shop and knows his dodges, and I believe is in the torrington area.

You guys are wonderful....miss hanging out with ya.

Oh, I've been away from this site way tooo long!!!! You guys are awesome. I totally forgot about coffee nights and I haven't been on the NE site in about the same amount of time.

Thanks... I will try JLEONARD's son and massdiesel and whoever can work on it sooner.

I would have come to coffee night this week but starting a new part time job in Mass this week so I wron't be around. I will definitely get down there soon.

Oh and I will try that Signal 73... . sounds easy enough... . my steering wheel is literally 90 deg from what it should be and it keeps moving clockwise every week ever so slightly!!!!

Is there such a thing???? My ex-girlfriend sent me to her honest "Christian" mechanic. After being charged double what he qouted I explained to her that being a "Christian" mechanic just means I have to forgive him after he scr@#$ me!

..... being a "Christian" mechanic just means I have to forgive him after he scr@#$ me!

This is from your EX girlfriend? Before or after she became an ex? :-laf

I've noticed this about "Christians" in general. Not to start a religious battle, but I have noticed the ones who were their "faith" on their sleeves warrant the most watching in all dealings.

If you were in MO, I could recommend a few that know the older Dodges, and as such, could figure out the new ones.

Ok, Mike (who own's Ron's Auto in Torrington, CT) is an awesome, great guy and mechanic. Oo.

Get this... . I had to have the dealer work on my front end (of the truck ;) ). They replaced tie rods, track bar, and some other stuff. WELL... when they finished the alignment, they never tightened the clamp on the right tie rod so both the tie rod arm and the steering arm were coming apart from each other by unscrewing from the clamp!!!!!! #@$%!

My steering wheel had been turned 180 deg and that was when I was driving straight!!! My steering and wandering was so bad I couldn't drive it anymore and got stuck... I wasn't able to make right hand turns. I tried to back into a parking space and I couldn't turn. #@$%!

Thank you so much Jay for the referral. I will be going back to him for other things (even when I move to New Hampshire probably). Oh yeah, and he took me in last minute and put off other stuff to help me.

So, what time is coffee night???

Nicole
