I've restored cars and I agree with other here:
Decide what you want to do with the car.
To bring a car up 2 grades will cost at LEAST twice of what you could buy the same car for.
Do what you want - not what others tell you to do.

I've put 20,000 dollars into my GTX since 1984 - maybe 1000 of that was labor - I've done everything else. I've also driven the car - right now it would be considered a mid class 2 range car.
