I was surfing around and got curious if anyone has ever used the Kelderman four-link system. It eliminates the leaf springs (and therefore, axle wrap) and replaces the whole thing with an airbag setup.

How about any other kelderman stuff? The air ride?

I was impressed, but that's just from what I read on the website.

Thanks

Kelderman Dual Bag Air-Ride

Hohn,

I installed the Kelderman 2-Bag Air-Ride a few weeks ago.

Am very pleased with the "unloaded" ride improvement, although the main reason I purchased the air-ride was for towing my travel trailer. Still haven't had a chance to hook up the travel trailer and take it out for a spin. I have a 600# camper shell on my truck, and need to run 38-40 psi in the air bags. Kelderman suggests 25-35 psi for a truck with a completely empty bed, so figured this was about right.

The air bags have been holding the same pressure since I installed them (no leaks). I have purchased a 12V commercial compressor on EBay and will install it next week, with pressure gauge and bleed valve. I decided to install a compressor setup, to make it easy to change the air-bag pressures when travelling, with my trailer.

Good Luck,

Frank

Air-Ride

I have the dual bag air-ride system, which retains the leaf springs. You might want to contact Kelderman about the 4-Link System. I have heard that it does not really improve the ride like the dual bag system does.

The feature I'm interested in is the constant ride height (besides the unloaded ride improvement of course). Anyone in TDR land planning on installing one of these? It would make a good article for the TDR!

Hohn:

I've been looking at the same system. Since I started looking it has gone up $250. Now I think I will get the Mor/Ryde system for trucks. I got it coming on the new fiver I bought and it should work on the truck. Alittle cheaper too.

Looking at your line about "war", I find it kind of amusing with the part about slavery . I don't guess you've look lately but it got us into a totalitarian government, no sovereign state's in the union and under a form of democracy/communism. All rules come from Washington. Wasn't that way before the War. Now what did it do?

FDziurda- Since you're adding a compressor, you could get a air-ride control valve for a semi. It will adjust the airbag press. /ride height automatically for the load. One end goes to the frame and other is attached to the axle via a threaded rod/ball joints. Will add press. as more weight is put on and dump air when it is unloaded.

Just a thought, then you shouldn't have to mess with it once it is adjusted to where you want it.

You can get the air ride height controll from any big truck supply co. I have the 2 bag with springs system, and installed the Haldex height control valve. There are others out there but this one seems to be the most readily available. Works well and keeps the ride height the same all the time.

A popping 4 link? I install um but have seen no trouble with Keldermans mfg or finish.

What did you say was the popping? A broken bag plate? How in the world did that break? I don't undrstand the $3000 repair. that is some high dollar work.

I've been a dealer for Kelderman for 2 year now and have not had any problem. I can tell you to repair something I did, is not a $3000 dollar job. That won't cost you a cent.

My 03 has the 4 Link Kelderman system on it, its been on for almost 200K mi. now and I love it! Had about 40Kmi when installed.

I started out with the 2 bag system, but I tow some pretty heavy loads, and you cannot control the ride height with the 2 bag system like you can with the 4 Link system, because you still have the springs with the 2 bag system, and you cannot control the sag in the springs. The 2 bag system rides better than the 4 Link, but the 4 Link is much better for me. I have the 1st 4 Link system for an 03. Jeff had my trk. for 2 weeks, fitting the system and making jigs for the 03. I believe it was last March, Jeff called me and had me bring my trk. back to him, he had made some changes, and changed everything out on my trk. I didn't have any problems, he just wanted to up date my trk. I have the auto leveling and it works great. It rides a lot better empty with it, but really shines when loaded.

I have an Oasis 12V compressor and 8 gal air tank with air conn. in rear bumper so I can use my 15 ton air/hyd. jack and impact wrench when needed. I am real happy with it!

No complaints with mine. Fit and finnish is great, install was long but smooth, axles wrap is gone, rear end sag is gone, and my truck will put out 500+hp and 1000+ft/lbs and I can't touch it. If it's breaking and popping something was probably installed incorrectly. FWIW I opted for 4 wheel independant height/pressure control. This gives me the ability to level for campers and such.

As far as other products, their corn reel works great. :D

I'd really like to get their air-ride on my truck. :D I have ridden in MMiller's truck. He has their old style setup on it. Pretty nice.

I have Keldermanns 2 bag air ride system on both my trucks for 3 years and that is what they are, there not made for heavy load capacitity, just ride (I was blowing out airbags from the weight I was hauling). I may eventually upgrade to the 4 link... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . John

Primary Air offers the same 4 link air ride as Kelderman but at half the cost. Only difference is the air bags.

But they're not made for the 94-02 models. Just he 03 and up. I ask them why and was just told they didn't have enough calls to build um. I stay with Kerlderman.

Well at half the cost why aren't more people asking for them. Not to flame Kelderman but for those in my shoes that don't have alot to spend it makes more sense.

Just takeing a wild guess, I would say liability. Jeff at Kelderman is the only one to take it on. If you look at Air Lift, it's not a 4 link. An arm with a bag on the end. And check the price on those. Not a lot of difference. I think, $400.
