I have been on the lookout for quite some time for an affordable one. This family for sale showed up on C/L. They wouldn't split them but the price was right. They are a blast. They can't or don't ever do a full blown HEE Haw but when they get excited (when I bring pellets) they will do a really quiet squeaky hee haw:D

They are already spoiled, when I put hay in their feeder, they just stand there aloof and watch me, until I bring grain/pellets and sprinkle it over the hay. They love carrots.

They are a father, mother and daughter. He has since been neutered. He is tan, mother is light grey and daughter is dark grey, she is the biggest (3 years old). They are 36" tall maximum to meet the miniature status.

The baby is froggy. The second day we let our red heeler in the pen with us and she pinned her ears back, barred her teeth and charged her. She didn't know if she should fight or run, so she ran. Totally embarrassed/intimidated her:D

nothing to add except when we lived in Ocala FL ( Thorobred country) neighbor raised miniature horses.
Affordable they were not.
I know the neighbor paid $250,000 for one stallion ( loose description as this sucker was hardly 3 feet tall) and were selling the babies for $50,000 each.
Horse u cant ride not much bigger than a German Shepherd.. ... $50k.
I'm in the wrong business.

What's the plan Nick? Fab some miniature implements and put em to work? Maybe paint them JD Green? :D

How are the pigs?

I hope you had a Merry Christmas. Remember the wild turkey we orphaned? He has turned into a real feed burner. Roosts with the chickens like he is one of them, he is confused but I suppose that's to be expected in this day and age :D
I keep telling my wife we are gonna eat good one of these weekends. She doesn't see the humor. She can walk right up to him and scratch his head. Me not so much.

Thank you JR, we did have a good Christmas, mild winter so far. We are all healthy as are all the animals. The Donkeys are leery of Sammy (pig) so it will take some time to get them comfortable with each other. We started integrating the old gentle rescue horse with the Donkeys, that is going to go well, we think.

I was surprised at how lazy the Donkeys are, they have one speed and that is 1st gear:D They actually stand there and go to sleep as long as you will pet/scratch them. Yet, at the same time, they are alert, nothing moves what they don't notice.

We are thinking about turning them out in the yard this spring when the weeds and grass turns green but are afraid they will become a nuisance and be at the doors :D

one thing I know for sure is you don't need a watchdog if you have donkeys or geese but you do need a fence of some sort otherwise they will roam.

We were cleaning barns and filling them with new hay bales. I had Sammy loose so she could hang out. I didn't secure the main gate very well, so she sauntered in the Beasties pen and promptly commandeered their feed tub, they are afraid of her:D
