Just got my pooter back after burning up my cpu & mother board 2 weeks ago, to read these posts about Nowel. I for one feel it is a great loss to this forum if he has chosen to be silent for whatever reason,& would like to thank him for all his help ,he has been more than forth coming with his knowledge & expieriences helping me/us understand the workings of these beasts. I will be pi$$ed if he has decided to be silent because of some petty minded whining indivduals who cant take responsibility for their actions or decisions regarding these trucks . Remember no-one is forcing you to bomb that is your choice!

The only thing I can say about HVAC is that he has been up front with me every time I've dealt with him. I've always got the service with the product, sort of rare in this day and age! I'm sure when he starts to post again we will know why he has been silent and quite frankly he most likly isn't worried to much about what the small minds think.

I have posted several times about HVAC. I in no way wanted him to go "silent", however, I did want him to start following the rules of the board. He broke many of them, and we all overlooked it due to him being a nice guy. HVAC has helped me in the past!

The post where he indicated we should buy our BOMBs from him was way out of line. We would not take that from other vendors. I personally emailed HVAC numerous times, and explained my position to him. He did not feel he was wrong. I then emailed Rob Spading, then administrator. Rob agreed to have a talk with him. He has since done other things, like posting stuff without saying he is a vendor in his signature. I am sure his "breaking the rules" is why he is such a good BOMBer, but, if he can, why can't others? Like Bill, Brian, etc. ?

I for one did not want to see him go, but while he is a vendor, he should be required to follow the same rules as anyone else. Other vendors have much money and time in their research/testing... they follow rules.
Either we should all follow the rules, or eliminate all of the rules.

I can see that from the previous postings this will not be too popular... I don't mean to offend anyone. I just felt it necessary to state my opinion.

well there you have it.
hvac is quiet like the rest of the vendors because information is not free anymore. Sure he is a vendor, but he answers many emails and calls about products purchased from other sources all the time... .....

I have sold a couple fuel line setups and vaughn wants me to pick up the torch on the fuel line upgrades, so am i now a vendor too?????

hvac is in a different situation as most vendors he has always been ready to help ALL tdr members, can we say that about other vendors, foremost hvac is the BOMBER

big loss to lose him

OK HVAC, you've been quiet enough. I need my 5" exhaust, propane, nitrous, tire smoking, make the diesel hole in my wallet a bit bigger FIX.

I am getting on a plane in a few hours and am coming out there to find you! I am stuck in a hotel all weekend so have nothing better to do than look for you and the RED FLASH!

Don't make me go look for that big white RAM (mcrossley), that just won't be enough of a fix.

(see ya soon)

By the way, if anyone needs to hear HVAC's truck, you can hear it on my 'LINKS' page at http://www.davidvt.com.

PS: do I have to show you CA folks how to survive without power? #ad

Ted, Piers, and most other vendors answer emails, phone calls, etc all the time, too! Ask any one of them how much time they spend doing that. Maybe ask Brett from Edge Products.

How do you know whose advice is best? That is not an easy question, but in my opinion, one of the best posts I have seen is Ted's on Proper Order to Upgrade. An important post for the longevity of our Cummins. As I recall, I have never read a post from HVAC on that issue. Its always "go with the DD3s" and go with hot "PE" or something. I feel this catches a lot of people with upgrades that their truck and pocketbook are not ready for.

And sure we all must be making wise decisions, but we all know how easy it is to get caught up in the wildfire of BOMBing.

Well after talking to HVAC yesterday and then reading the posts here last night and this morning I can't blame him for being absent this forum, this is supposed to be informative and interesting to all, who wants to come on here and read that a bunch of people that you have helped in the past all of a suddden turn on you and stabb you in the back and start attacking your character and bad mouthing all you have done in the past AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE. #ad
So what if he makes a little money on the side with performance parts, if most people would quit crying and use that time productively to better themselves then you to could have a side gig that is what you love to do. I back HVAC 100% and if it was me I would say the HELL with you guys who are nothing but people who have nothing better to do than cause trouble, also I would not post again either, why give info to people who will turn on you at the drop of the hat, Brandon is right with what he said in one of the previous posts in my opinion this whole thing sucks and this will be my last post on this issue #ad

When talking to HVAC when I was 1st interested in upgrades I was asked what my criteria was regarding bombing ie. what i planned to do with the truck, towing, empty etc . I told him what i wanted out of my truck,& my concerns & ended up buying some relatively mild upgrades. I certainly didnt feel i was being influenced into buying the biggest baddest product out there,in fact the combo he reccomended is what i bought & am real happy with that ,well at least til i upgrade my transmission. Just relating my expierences the man. Ian

Just one question... WHO IS NEXT... .
so far we the guys who have asked for help in modifing have done a great job of running off the guys that have done a huge job of R&D at their own expense. . ya some have opened a business up, but what are they doing... FILLING a void. . not one of the vendors that have been mentioned are free of advertising guilt on this site [subtle or straight out]. . I have no problem with answers AND a source for products being talked about no matter if it is a company owned by the poster... every one of the people have passed on great info along with a little advertising. . get a grip. . do you turn off the TV or close the newspaper HELLL no you just pass up the stuff you don't want to see. . do the same here. . quite running off the good guys by constant backstabbing... how many post do you see from the . . Nowel, Ted, Piers,Scotty and many others[thanks Evan for coming back]. . they are leaving TDR at a alarming rate . . WHY . . to much BS going on. .
TDR was once a lot of fun ... sure going the wrong way now. . JMHO
Gary
PS. . yes I'm a friend of HVAC's and Scotty. . [just didn't want to leave ya guessing]. . and proud to say that they are my friend

Willyslover has a good point guys. This political BS needs to STOP... PERIOD!!! Let's enjoy what "Everyone" has worked hard to achieve, and let's be proud of the TDR. No sense in Chasing people off. If you don't like what someone has to say... take it with a grain of salt and move on.

Nowel has always given me great advice, and we owe him a lot of respect for the info that he has passed down to us!!

Just my $. 02

Kev

It's not my place to get into who's-who and right/wrong, so I won't #ad

The key word IMHO in Gary's post above is FUN.
A saying of mine has been, "If it ain't fun, don't do it. "
This ain't fun #ad

I agree with Gary and Kevin. I have learned a lot and have gotten a lot of enjoyment on this web site. I don't know anyone involved in this debate and in fact I don't fully understand all that is going on. I do know that there are an awfully lot of smart people who have opinions and experiences that can benefit a lot of us. Anytime anyone causes a "chilling effect" the rest of us lose. I think it is up to each of us to listen and encourage debate and then decide for ourselves what we should retain and what should go out the other ear. I know that if I offered an honest opinion and received a response that said I was stupid or had ulterior motives I wouldn't feel like continuing the discussion, but if a different opinion was given it would be appreciated and likely to extend the conversation and both parties would benefit.
Thanks for listening, Tom

I'm with Gary 110% on this!!! HVAC is one hell of a bombing animal and has pushed the limit as far as anyone. He has gone out of his way to e-mail me personally when I was headed down the wrong path without me even asking for help he spent his time to help me out even though I'm a 12 valve dude. (thanks HVAC) HVAC isn't the enemy he's one of us Bomb-a-haulics in fact he might be one of the ones that infected all of us. If this kind of long arm of the web law keeps up we'll not only loose more great men but loose this sight altogether. And this to me is would take way a big enjoyable part out of my life. All of us have opinions and gripes but if your not man enough to take it to his face in person don't post it on this sight. Let's all get along and keep the flower jokes and dura jokes at bay.

I've been out of town for the last week snowboarding so I haven't been able to check in on the site. For the record, the policy on vendors was changed a few months ago to require vendors to post their company in their signature. When that change was made (in order for the users to be better informed), and Nowel posted, he was requested to add his company name to his signature. Since that time he has done so in 99% of his posts (mistakes do happen). The moderators try to avoid getting involved unless things get out of hand or people take things too far. The exception to that is moving posts to their proper forums. The moderators try VERY hard to maintain a balance between all parties involved here and we try our best to make the site a pleasant and informative place to visit without going overboard with the moderation.

On the ECM issue I called Nowel today to ask him about it. IMO, he has restrained himself on the issue greatly. He tested the ECM he had received and was not happy with the results. Instead of slamming someone he decided to shelve the product and go on about his business. Since this was not a product that was on the market and in development I think he made a wise choice. Noone was going to be hurt by his not posting his findings - on the other hand someone could get hurt by posting his findings. After talking with Nowel, if this was a product on the market I'm pretty sure that he would have posted his results without attacking anyone as I have done on other subjects on here. Everyone has to make up their own minds as to the mods they want to make on their trucks. Currently the results are not in on the latest ECM mods so the jury is still out. Nowel does have his test ECM on hand and has offered free dyno time for anyone willing to test it that has a manual in Northern California.

Now, all the above being said. Can we get back to having FUN on this site without having to insult/defame anyone? If you have something negative to say to someone - PLEASE email them privately with your issues and if they continually don't respond then post it for the general public. If that person doesn't want to air it in public then please respect his or her thoughts on it and let them handle it. If you feel someone is breaking the rules on the site please email me at stevest@voyager.net with your concerns and I will do my best to address them.

Thanks for your time.

well put steve , this is a problem between marco and nowell , no one else . no one should be stirring the pot on this as it will and has not resolved anything . its things like this that drove scott1 from the site , as well as a few others . in the past everyone was chomping at the bit for the latest info on the latest BOMB from the TDR test mule nowell, if he gave a favorable report most people would buy it if it fit there needs or desires . lets go back to having some fun and exchanging information , let nowell and and marco iron this one out between themselves .

I bet if the full truth was known Nowell and Marco are working it out. I think both of these gentelmen are in this hobby for the benifit of everyone and I think in the end we will all benifit. Like I said earlier Nowell has always been straight up with me and it would serve no purpose to belittle Marco with out giving him a full oportunity to get the bugs out, after all I know I can't do what he is trying to do with the ECMs so I for one do congradulate him on at least trying to make our trucks run better.

Steve,
I did not want to get back to this story. Now we're playing a subtle game here
and I think you deserve an answer from me too
since you've brought to the public Nowel's part off the story.

First off, accusing Nowel for something he hasn't done is no good. I personally have private mailed to several persons asking them to STOP that.

Sure Mr HAVAC has done good to this board, but this doesn't gives him the right to not respect the common sense and rules off courtesy.

He has had an modified ECM for several weeks.
If he felt that it was no good then he should have told me that PRIVATELY since he was supposed to test it.

Instead I have NEVER been able to get an response from him. He had no time today, the next day something else happend and so on...
At a certain point I got tired waiting for him and decided to proceed with other testers.
In a topic that I didn't start, NOW he offers his help saying that he needs someone with a truck with a stick to do testing.

Am I wrong or his truck actually is a five speed? He has had all the time to test and give me the feedback. He never did!

Now he says the ECM modification is no good!
In the GENERAL PUBLIC! ( Through second person)

No guys, we're going way too far here now!

If he told me that PRIVATELY than it would have been OK. I'm MAN enough to stand behind what I've done.

In this way it's NOT correct!

You're right when you say that it's ONLY between Nowel and me. HE jumped into my way in the general PUBLIC. So I answered him in the general public. Just to make clear what's going on.

Sow the wind and reap the whirlwind.
That's what happend.
Marco.

WOW... . I have only been on the board for a few weeks and am wondering if it's worth staying. Sounds like a bunch of children fighting in a school yard. Let who ever say what ever. If you don't respond to the post it dries up and goes away. Now I'm not clear on the rules for vendors but I think that they should have the same freedom to speak out like anyone else has. Seems to me that if you take the advice of someone regardless of who they are it is in your hands. So let ALL have a free voice. Now From Marcos last post I get the feeling that he's upset about dealing with Nowel. Unless he had made prior agreements concerning testing and posting of results to this board then he left the door wide open.

IMHO... . of course... .

Marco, the sooner you get the ecm figured out the better. I am looking forward to that day.

I will more than gladly make a humongus dent in the bottom of my trash can with my VA and the PS boost module for a re-programmed ecm.

Sorry about all the edits, can't seem to spell tonight.
