Anyone have one of those rubber thingies on top of their snowplow?

Forklift/personell lift certification?

If I plow at any decent speed. the snow flies up on my windshield so bad I have to stop and let the wipers do their thing for a moment. Do those rubber flaps work? Where do you get them?

Yes they do work to an extent. Even with one on your plow you can reach speeds that will throw the snow over the top of the hood. However having said that you would notice a big difference if you add on. You can purchase one at a local snowplow dealer or I have used wide rubber belting from round balers. Which you can often get at a local Farm supply store. Make sure you bolt it on using a piece of flat metal to hold it down.

How wide of a strip does it need to be, as in how far does it extend off the plow? How thick? I used to be able to get used belting off the machinery here at work, but now they don't have/offer it anymore. Made great tool box top covers. I'd probably be better off buying belting than going to a snowplow dealer, where it is a "specialty item".

I wouldn't go less than 8" wide and 12" would be better. I've seen them as thin as 1/4" but IMO the thicker the better because it helps keep the snow from bending the rubber backwards.

"Fume Flap" you can make your own with angle iorn, just sneek to a plow dealer and check them out you can work it yourself. and the flap goes DOWN no up like the people I see running around my town.

you can go to auto-value and buy just the rubber for I think 60 bucks

Apparently the largest one that Northern offers is 88". I need 96". Besides, $80 for a strip of rubber and some hardware seems a bit steep.
