1. Any pics?

2. Who makes good AT tires in that size?

3. How much perf hit will i take moving up to this size if I have 3. 73 gearing?

4. Do you need a leveling kit to make these fit?

5. Do they stick out farther than stock (would they look good with fendor flares?)... or do I need to go to an aftermarket rim / wider tire?

Thanks guys... had 285's on my last dodge 1500 and was happy all round... . but this truck's a little taller, so I'm just looking to fill the wheel wells better without too much penality.

I don't know if this will help or not, but my buddy has 295 Nitto's on 3rd gen rims on his 02. They look good and he likes them so far. He has a leveling kit on his 2nd gen but I doubt you would need one on a 2nd or 3rd gen.

1) see above

2) I dont like the squirm of the D-rated personally

3) Not a ton, but then again I made up for it with a few mods :)

4) Nope, not even on turns

5) I think they dont stick out enough for flares... (with stock wheels)

Thanks for the inputs!

"2) I dont like the squirm of the D-rated personally" - Arent the Nitto's D rated? Are you saying they squirm? If so, would you buy them again?

Unrelated to your question, but I had a set of 285's mounted on the stock 16" rims this past weekend. . The installer had a few interesting comments which may be common knowledge to you. . but I certainly was unaware.

265 is the widest recommended tire for a 7" wide rim. Installing a wider tire will cause poor tire wear, specifically in the center of the tread pattern.

I have the stock 05 17" rims which are 8" wide, so I believe they're be ok. Nitto's fitment guide: says 8. 0-(8. 5)-9. 5... . with 8. 5 being the optimal and 8. 0 being the minimum approved and 9. 5 being the max approved.

I have the Nittos on my unlifted Laramie 4X4 and when I first put them on I noticed the soft feel at 50psi. I bumped them up to 65 and it firmed them up nicely. No rubbing, nice smooth ride. I have a little over 30K on them and expect to get 10-15k more. Pretty happy with all around traction here in Colorado but I do not tow anything heavy. If I was tugging a big old fifth wheel, I would consider the E rating.

I run mine at 55psi. I guess I'll try a higher PSI and see what happens.

If they dont feel any firmer, I will not be buying them again...

I have the Nitto's too. They seemed to squirm on the initial ride home but I never noticed it since, even with a 3,400# camper on board. They are extremely smooth on the highway. I liked them with the stock suspension but they look too small now. I have 30,000 on them now. IMO the 295's are the perfect size with the stock ride height. Pictures in my readers rigs.

See attached picture of before/after stock 265's vs. 295 Nitto Terra Grapplers.

I have about 1,000mi on them now and am very happy. The tires do not rub anywhere or stick out. Looks perfect... wish the truck came like this from the factory.

As mentioned by a couple of others, the "D" rated tires will squirm a little on the highway if you move the wheel back and forth. Just a little... I don't think it's any big deal... but I can notice it a little. I'm still experimenting with tire pressure, so maybe it'll work itself out. Right now I'm at 65psi front, 57 rear.
