My '03 bed is going going gone....and tailgate. Everything else seems OK. Would I be dumb to do a CM or Herrin bed? It's a 2500 quad short wheel base w/ 160k. First work its done since new is a 9k # travel trailer I just bought. I'm thinking of doing a hauler conversion and replace/beef up everything so I can pull that camper. Just need a tow vehicle and can't see spending big bucks on another truck when I've had this gem since new, can't take the rust bucket. Putting good money on a bad truck or will it be worth it?

I washed my truck today (warm weather) and noticed a lot of scratches through the thin color-coat (not the primer). It got me to thinking about rust. Anyone out there with a 3rd gen have any rust on the outside body panels? I'm not talking about suspension parts, axles, driveshafts, transmissions, or frame rails... just the body panels.

Like many of you, I see rust starting above the rear wheel wells. It is forming on the inside and working its way toward the surface (paint bubbling). The area where the rust is forming is inaccessible, any ideas how to get in there and start abating it? Some shop somewhere near Southern tier of NY?

Check out the pictures of my rusted axles on another post.

Thanks.

Dodge sheet metal is a cancer it is passsed from one gen to another . Sad , I hate to say it but they are decades behind in rust proofing . My 79 would be a nice ride for the Flintstones . My 05 has 38K on it and sits in a climate controlled garage and it still has rust on the frame . Must I suppose is from survinig in the rust belt

Now that it has some "bubbles " in the paint will this do any good?

I don't know of any product that will reverse the effects of rust. Krown will maintain whatever state your vehicle is in when you start using it and dramaticaly slow down or prevent your vehicle from deteriorating further.

A few years ago, my brother bought a pretty rough F-150. I was surprised when he took it in for the Krown treatment. He just wanted to get a few years use out of it, until he could buy a new truck. He didn't want the truck to collapse on the road or fail the safety if he got pulled over for an inspection. The DOT does it here on a random basis. It served it's purpose and he got rid of it.

When he bought a brand new truck in 2014, his first stop was the Krown shop. It automatically goes in once a year for the respray. The truck is always parked outside and still has paint on the frame and no signs of rust on any of the panels.

Does anyone remember Naval Jelly? It was a gel that you "painted" on and it ate the rust and stopped it from spreading any further.
