My block heater has packed it in... the power cord connection and the male pins on the block heater element got pitted/corroded and cooked up.

Does anyone have a/the part number for the block heater element?

Is this a DC or Cummins part that you'd suggest???

thanks guys... :D

Like so many items I keep the PN on record. I do not have the "records" here at work.

However, do not dispare. The PN is as close as the nearest Cummins dealer. Give 'em your serial number.

Good time for an upgrade to one of those 1500 watt super duper block heaters I've read about. I always thought the stock one was 1500w, but I hear its only 750w. Being up there in the cold, it might be worth looking into. I know the guys on DTR were talking about them this past winter.

The one I just instaled in the 90 is really something... ... . the water is hissing soon after plug in.

I attended a cooling system class not long ago and it was mentioned that if the block heater boils the water it is rapidly depleting the SCA (corrosion inhibitors/ additives)in the coolant. OK if you keep up with the coolant samples or change it out regular like.

I purchased mine from a heavy truck dealership and is the ZEROSTART brand.

It's 750W PN 3500030/79104

It would be slick to get one of those that are thermostatically controlled. Fleetgurd makes a bunch of those. That way it wouldn't overheat much like Scott described.

Block heater element #

Element # 3912898. Stock element is a Zerostart. I found the whole kit for less than cummins wanted for the element.
