Spinner II

Prep trk for cold

I was at his house checking it out a couple weeks back, nice looking piece. It will increase the airflow,That's never a bad thing. Every time I have increased airflow I have felt an improvement. Not always major.

Jacob seems really nice he got me a great deal on my super special turbo. when I did the hamilton cam I got a nice change in air, just wondering if this is going to be function or more shiny nice under the hood. thanks Bob,

Looks like a nice part! I have three questions:

1) how much disassembly is required for the install?

2) I have a billet heater delete spacer. Looks like this part incorporates it into the mounting surface so it would no longer be needed? And is the air horn mounting surface at the correct height as if the heater or spacer were there?

3) the area you highlighted in the photo as "casting restriction" - how does this part improve that? I thought the issue is that extra material "hump" is part of the cyl. head casting?

I put one on my '07 with a 5. 9 it takes 3 to 4hrs to install. I work slow you will need a set of ball ended allen wrenches you might have bend the wrench some to get the one by air intake pleum in between it and the head. I sanded the inside on the welds to smooth them up alittle more just me being killing some time. My CFM intake horn bolted directly on minus the heater grid and intercooler lined up great. Haven't dynoed truck with the new intake plate but it seems to add alittle more power not as much as the CFM intake horn. Turbo spool is better. My egts went down by about 50 degrees cruising and haven't towed with it yet. Cool down time also improved now idling with the a/c on and a 95 degree day my egts will get below 300 my probe is pre-turbo. Carl the maker of this says the 2nd generation trucks show better perfomance than the 3rd gens. For 250. 00 its pretty good add on and its polished.

I hate to ask this

I lucked out this year and didn't have to get a smog check here in California... VIN# ended in an odd number.

Is this thing gonna need some sort of CARB number or is it invisible to the smog nazi's?

I've been all over this country and many parts of the world (I could totally live in the south of France or Spain) but I still love California for a long list of reasons but this smog BS just really pisses me off.

If it's not gonna cause me heartache later..... I WANT ONE!
