i have trouble sleeping too, but i have to try and sleep during the day as i work nights... i went 27 hours no sleep yesterday [up at 7:00am weds, bed today at 10am] and i slept until around 1:30pm, then just layed in bed trying to fall asleep until 3:30pm then got up... i dislike sleeping during the day :( [i like working nights though]

Do you work shift work? This sounds a lot like my (few) days off while I was on a rotating shift.

You talk about feeling sh***y !!!! Used to fall asleep going and coming home from work. Woke up on the other side of the road more times than I care to remember. :--)

I take melatonin at night even though I havent worked in a year and a half.

It helps!!!

I also have a sleep apnia (sp?) and sleep on a bi-pap machine.

Now that I'm not working, I feel like a new person.

I dont really worry about money, bills etc. :-laf

It's all good mon. :-laf

The timing of your meals, the time you do things throughout the day, etc all effects your circadian sleep rythims.

Get on a rigid schedule and take good vitamins.

Also, like someone else mentioned, do your workout in the evening.

5AM, alarm goes off for wifey, she leaves and I die till 6:30AM. Get up, coffee, two mile brisk walk. Go to work, 11AM sinking spell, keep busy, 3PM sinking spell. 5-6PM, dinner and difficult time staying awake. 9PM wifey goes to bed... Time for me too. Grrrrr. Here it is 10PM, I know I should be dead in bed, no such luck... WIDE awake. 1 cup coffee, 1 glass of tea for lunch. What gives?

When I was in high school I read an article in Readers Digest that prescribed having a notepad and pencil by your bed. When you go to bed, jot down what you have to do the next day. I tried it and it worked like a champ.

I have modified it somewhat in that if I remember something that has to get done I will write it down on the note pad. Seems to help. When this fails, I start praying for family, friends, folks who need God, and situations. This also works great. I figure de ol' debil doesn't like me praying for folks, and thus, its soon off to la la land. ;)

I have also found that since I sleep much in G-bear country that a handy can of pepper spray, two border collies, horses with bells, a hard days work, a small radio with headset to listen to the night time talks shows, and commiting my well-being, or demise, to my Maker works wonders.

PS: This last suggest may not be exactly applicable in your locale. :-laf

I have sleep problems too.

I go to bed around 11pm, I wake up Nightly around 3 am, unable to breath (COPD) and hit the inhalers. I then go to sleep until 430 am, and get up for work. Some nights I feel as if I hadn't went to bed. Nearly every morning (if you consider 430am the morning) I wake up with an awful headache. It is located in the same spot all the time. Right at the base of my head in the back right where the neck joins it just right of center. Headaches last for days, sometimes.

What pill will fix me up??

I might try going to a Chiropractor for that , at least give it a try.

Phenibut

Give Phenibut a try. I sleep like a baby when I use it. I take 1. 2 grams. Zero side effects, not additive or habit forming. It makes you very relaxed w/ very good mood elevation.

... "In Russia, phenibut is commonly used to treat many neuroses, including post-traumic stress disorder, stuttering, and insomnia. "

I have/had acid reflux/GERD and it sounds very much like what you describe.

Since I've been taking prevacid, it's been almost non existant.

I get headaches too. I've taken in the past Zomig and Imitrex (sp?), and I'm currently taking Maxalt. It helps, but it wont eliminate the headaches. :(

Try a different pillow, or try to sleep in a different position. If you sleep on your back (like I do) have momma sew a tennis ball on the back of a shirt and wear it to bed for a few nights. It will keep you off your back, and that may be all you need.

PS evevating the head of your bed 3-4" may help the COPD if it's like acid reflux. :) Dont eat late at night either!!!
