Hurricane Rita

Shortly after Katrina hit I read in the paper that there was a movie that aired on FX titled Oil Storm. Well this movie was aired about 3 mos before Katrina hit and in the movie a cat 5 hurricane devistates New Orleans and the U. S oil production. Well here is the scary part. In the movie after the hurricane hit sometime later terrorists made an attack on the oil fields in Saudi crippling the world.

Well today on Fox news they interviewed an ex cia operative that said he believes that the terrorists are watching what is going on here. He also mentioned an attack on Saudi oil fields, and that the Saudis are scared because they are thinking the same, kinda made me shiver.

Anyone find this a little unsettling, I know I did. Just imagine if this movie became reality. So far it has except for the second hurricane.

CSnyder, what he meant was that the movie depicts what happened so far, but the movie did not depict a second hurricane.

I think mother nature threw in a trump card on the 2nd storm. The fact that everything in the movie happening so far is really wierd, I hope the attack does not happen.

I heard about the movie, but didn't watch it. Pretty bizarre coincidences. Or is mother nature psychic? I hope they don't attack either. It feels like the U. S. is a giant house, and instead of bad neighbors being the terrorists, it's the termites who infested the house inside, trying to bring us down.

I watched that movie when it aired. The first event that caused problems was a hurricane striking Louisiana, which closed down their refinerys and ports for a year. This forced all of the gulf oil to be redirected through the Houston port.

The second event was a tanker collision in the Houston port that caused it to be shut it down for months. As a result, gas prices went up to $7 per gallon and higher.

I think there was a terrorist act in there somewhere as well, but I really don't remember. It was an interesting outcome when Katrina hit, but that's where the similarities end.
