Does anyone know if torque management is used in the Chrysler / Cummins applications to protect the 68RFE or Aisin automatic transmission? ‘Torque management’ is used by GM to protect the transmission from excessive power output but I don’t know about other manufacturers. I have lightly considered an Aisin conversion but the torque management question is one concern.

ALL of these 3-4 pinions units, including the 8 and 10 speeds, are over managed and under clutched. Even the 48RE was TQ managed or it would not last as long as it did in normal usage.
 
My 2012 with the 68rfe in it does have torque management. It won't let loose with all it's got till it gets the TCC locked. Mine will lock just above 30 mph, but it can vary depending on how it's driven as it's always trying to adapt. I personally have zero complaints about how it all works and I came from a 2001 with a 6 speed manual.

Also, the transmission can be tuned through the OBD II port on the 2010 and up trucks. The 2007.5 to 2009 trucks had the TCM as a separate unit that had to be removed to be tuned/programmed.

I am very curious to see one of these conversions done.
 
It is in effect until lockup from what I can tell. I think it has some as it shifts after lockup but it shifts fairly quickly. When it shifts after lockup it does an unlock-shift-relock sequence. If it meets perfect conditions outside of tow/haul it will upshift 5-6 locked, but not always. I have the gear and TCL displayed on my Insight, just basing the management from how fast the truck will accelerate on flat ground. I haven't driven a 68rfe that wasn't the "High-output" (2007.5-2010) recently enough for a fair comparison.
 
It isn't really TQ management, that is too complicated to do. It is all fuel management and controlling TC clutch slip on shift points. That all has to be managed or the trans will just shell itself out in short order, same as an Ally without extensive mods and a controller. The Tq Shift is no better, without the fuel management and TC slip they won't hold the TQ.
 
Motorhead, where did you end up with this topic? I tried going down this rabbit hole whether using a 68rfe or an allison but kept hitting my head against the wall. Also tried talking to Gear Vendors, but they shut me down as well.
 
I am at a standstill with this. I replaced my clutch Hydraulics with a new South Bend unit and after I installed my adjustable pedals, it made the shifting easier. BUT......If someone would come out with a PROVEN conversion with NO torque management, Id be on board.
This is what I have been working on for the last few months, My 1967 Triumph Tiger Cub engine. It has several proven modifications, Forged 65.5 mm WISECO piston, "R" camshaft and a roller bearing Big end on the rod, port matched and polished. Tri Spark point less electronic ignition.

Allison swap seems proven by the company in Florida, but it is so crazy expensive. That's why I ditched this idea entirely.
