I have a 2000 Ram 2500 Quadcab 2WD with ETC and a 6-speed(rare combination) and of course this beast has a rather atrocious brake system. Has anyone installed EGR's rear disc brake conversion kit? Of course any feedback is greatly appreciated. Different searches have given me more hits than I can go through in a week, so I hoping someone has firsthand knowledge of EGR's kit or any other rear disc conversions.

I did it... Look in my readers rigs and open the brake job folder...

They are using a better caliper now but it is basically a late 70's GM Caliper and pads so they are redily available... . I did the front rotors as well and got the slotted rotors and the Carbon Kevlar pads... .

The E-brake is a little tricky to get it set up right but I think they use a better caliper so maybe it is easier... . So far I have alot of miles on them and no trouble yet (knock on wood)... . Def. Worth the money

Before you go throw all that money at an EGR (not saying its NOT worth it. . )

Try swapping out the rear wheel cylinders with a GM one ton cylinder (Napa p/n 4637337)

They are 30mm vs 27mm and make a huge difference in stopping power. The cost is about ten bucks apiece. Little of your time, and twenty bucks... . what can ya hurt.

Thanks for the reply...

MarkSmith: I have already tried the larger wheel cylinders and it may or may work better. My biggest problem is the rears do not adjust properly and even after manually adjusting they may work briefly. Totally scary in the rain and fade to nothing in the summer. I like the truck, except for the brakes. Sell it?? Unlike some, my conscious can't let me do that. I am willing to spend the money as long as I know it's going to work. Thanks.

I did the same thing as Eric (front and rear) and they make a huge difference. Like he said, the only thing I'm having a problem with is getting the parking brake to setup properly.
