If I can get some 3K gov. springs, is anyone intersted in taking part?

I'd ballpark the numbers around $25-$30 USD plus COD shipping.

That is just a rough guestimate and I would confirm numbers before commiting myself/you to it.

Hi Bob,

Just curious as to what the 3K springs will do for the pumps and performance. Will it increase the RPM at which defueling begins? I am interested. Sounds like an inexpensive mdoification.

Jeremy

Oo.

how can you change the gov springs at home?... does'n't the pump need to be pulled apart?... i'm interested in them in fact i have many higher rpm ve pumps laying around my garage from vws i'm talking 4800 -5200 rpm govenor springs if its easy to swap i would try a set of them but obivously not rev it that high but a set of valve springs and 4000 rpm wouldn't be that bad i know many 24v and 12v that have pulled 3800 or so on th edyno with out govenor springs... im very interested. . let me know how to do it. .

thanks

Bush,

With a stock governor spring, how high can we rev?

And I hope someone answers Deo's question... I have an old VW pump lying around as well!

Jay

I went to my local pump shop a few months ago trying to find different gov springs. The 5200 RPM gov spring attaches differently inside the pump according to the man at the shop. I ended up buying a gov spring for my truck, but havent put it in yet since I dont have a tach. It cost me a whopping 13 dollars.

jbolt, no gasket is required. Just remove the throttle assy and the 3 or 4 screws that hold the top part of the pump on. The gov spring is in plain sight.

So Bob, after all of the discussion on the DTR have you decided to make the change? I am interested. Jughead is quite convincing. :D

Wow--this is the first I've heard of a governor spring kit for the VE pump! I've seen the 3000 and 4000 rpm gsk kits for p7100 pumps pretty much everywhere, but absolutely nothing for the VE pump.

BTW, what is the "DTR" site?

Thanks,

Mike

hey can you post pics or more detailed instructions for changing the gov spring I thought it was much more involved then just taking the throttle lever off and pulling the 4 bolts?? . doesn't the aneroid section have to be removed? that involves a lot. . mumn i have afew extra ve pumps laying around and one cummins 4bt ve pump that is completely in pieces in a bag mummn maybe i can tear into some to figure this out... but any how i am interested any luck finding 4000 rpm ve springs?

thanks deo

Count me in. How would these springs affect pump longevity? Seems like the cubic mm of fuel our VEs flow is close to safe max, at least from what has been said here.

Daniel

What exactly will these springs do compared to the stock springs? Do you still have to increase high speed screw?

This thread inspired me..... I just went out and turned the gov screw out 1 turn... ...

engine pulled hard and smooth to about 2850, then went up to about 2900+

:D

Took it out on the expressway... easily hit 100:eek:
