The price looks about right... when you include shipping etc I kinda figured around $20 so that's pretty close. It is also about 1/2 of what was quoted (actually guessed at) somewere else.

I am really looking forward to this discussion.

It took some doing to convince me that this may be an alternative to the high idle adjustment method and I'm really curious what the actual "technical" merrits/flaws of this are. There is no doubt that the couple who've done this mod felt they gained something from it.

When you throw in the variety of other cone 'numbers' out there it gets even weirder. .

Fueling curve

After cussing and discussing with technitions who know alot more about the VE today than I do, I am lead to believe that the spring that I posted the part# to in this topic changes the fueling curve and the spring that bushwacker posted about changes the rpm.

I dont believe that we will accomplish our goal of pulling harder in a much higher rpm without changing both.

I wish it wasn't so because the spring I posted about is a real bear to get to.

I think the pump has to be out of the truck to change it.

:(

I think the logical thing to do is try the easy one and hope you're satisfied with the outcome.

There sure was allot of pessimistic comments made by them about changing anything on the pump and they only seemed to feel like putting the pump on a stand and scientificly adjusting it instead of the seat of the pants method. They didn't think could possibly work

It's very difficult for me to restrain my comments

:D

Anyway we will soon see what works Oo.

My service manager grabbed that spring number too and he is going to look it up in the bosch spec books along with the others that we found today. As I mentioned in my other post "VE Pump" we are actually going to put a pump on the stand to see which one is the real deal and if this mod will even be worth it. I would recommend that the pump be put on a test stand before put in a truck b/c you can actually see what is happening. The spring is not that difficult to change on the truck, but, then again i've done a lot of pumps. There is a specific procedure for doing this and you can really screw things up if you don't do it right.

dzlpwr,

Welcome to the site. I think it is fantastic to have an insider among us! Looking forward to your contributions to the group.

I am just as interested in finding out what happens with these different springs as you guys are. If any of you happen to come across any part #'s please post them or e-mail them to me and I would be more than happy to look up thier specifications to see if they would be eligible. By the way my e-mail is -- email address removed --.

What would be a really nice outcome of all this would be to put together a list of internal comopnents by part number of what would be the "dream VE pump" for lack of a better term.

In other words, if one of us needs or wants a pump rebuild, what parts should be changed for max power enhancement?

And perhaps, where should all the setting be?

Just a thought.
