If you are into making the "Custom" 1st gen stuff you might try a single and dual stack kit.

4" of course.

Just a thought.

KO

I've been thinking along those lines myself !!

Instead of "4 inch of course" I should have said "4 inch at least... . and work your way up".

I guess I was thinking more about the pipe getting you there instead of the stack itself.

Silly me LOL

I for one would like a single 5" stack, for the 89.

Gonna put a flatbed on and don't want to lose any room.

These are still available. Because of a few issues with the 1st. Gen 4X4 Auto's, we are not offering them. All others, including 1st Gen 4X4 5 speeds, are still available at the Group Buy price. If anyone else has had any issues with the 1st Gen kit, please call and let us know. This was the first run of the 1st Gen. Dodge and we would like to make sure we get everything corrected. Once we have several Auto 4x4's installed without issues, they will be available. Thanks, Jeremy. (936) 348-8968

While my fit with an automatic wasn't perfect, I can't say enough nice things about Jeremy at Texas Diesel and Jerry at Pinnacle Exhaust :) . First off, it was a "first run" and while I don't enjoy being a guinney pig, I guess somebody has to do it :-laf

I started my R&R Sunday before Labor Day. I realized things weren't lining up and emailed Jeremy Labor Day morning. He mailed back that night - apologizing for being slow to respond - on a Holiday mind you. He said he'd talk to Pinnacle first thing Tuesday morning.

I got a call from Jerry at Pinnacle that Tuesday afternoon. He was VERY apologetic and a little embarrased that things weren't perfect. I was very understanding and civil and explained the situation, adding that I was supposed to haul a load of calves to market that week. He overnighted a coupler to get me back on the road saying that he'd send a new downpipe as soon as he could get some automatics in the shop to re-test a new downpipe design. He also compensated me for the difficulties :D .

Right now I'm running with my home-modified downpipe (hammered, cut and rewelded) but the rest is working great. I've postponed hauling calves until the rains quit but I'll be pulling a load this weekend (~6,000lb) and can let you know how the EGTs and boost compare to the choked down stocker.

I never like it when things don't work as advertised but I have NEVER gotten the customer care in terms of response time, personnal correspondance and follow through as with these two businesses. If all businesses handled their boo-boos and customers this way America would be a better place and the consumer wouldn't feel "consumed".

Would I buy from them again? You betcha! Oo. (but I'll let somebody else work out the bugs first! ;) Way to go Jeremy and Jerry! :)

yep, i had to do a little fab work myself, but it worked out fine. jeremy is a great guy and i would definately do business with him again. maybe we can convince him to carry more 1st gen stuff.

We had to do a little "adapting" also, but we got there ok. Love the sound.

Thanks for the kind words!

The downpipe problem was unforeseen, we did not intend to use anyone as a guinea pig. When the 1st. Gen kit was put together it was obvious that there would be a difference between 2wd and 4wd. I would not have ever imagined there would be a difference between an Auto versus 5spd on the 4X4 models. We are working to get this corrected. Again, I apologize for any problems.

As far as getting other 1st. Gen stuff, give me a call! Jeremy

Overall the system seems to perform well. I pulled 6,000 of boat about 7 hours. EGT's stayed about 200* lower and never got over 1,000*. Guess I need to work on boost now, that didn't change. At approximately 2,000 rpm and 60mph, boost stays around 10 or under but pulling hills it never goes over 22lbs which is all I've ever had.

Once the downpipe issue is fixed I think it will be a good automatic exhaust.

Mwiest, we are having to make some changes to the downpipe on Auto 4X4 1st gen's. I will post here as soon as it is done. Several members here have had fit problems that we are fixing. Thanks for the interest. Jeremy.

4" First Gen Exhaust

Jeremy,

In Aug. I purchased your 4" First Gen exhaust kit thru your group buy for my 1992 D250, Auto, 2wd. I finally got to install it on the truck and encountered problems with the downpipe. Stock 1st gen downpipes exit the exhaust housing and then turn straight down, turn 90* and back. Your downpipe is angled toward the back and then transitions straight back. When installed and ready to install next section of pipe it would not clear the transmission crossmember, it was too close to the floor of the truck. In order to make it clear the crossmember we had to cut the downpipe and extend it(this took 3 attempts to get the correct amount to clear crossmember) almost 8". Once we got it to clear the rest went pretty smoothly ( one section of 4" was not swedged to accept the over the axle pipe). I had to drive about 70 miles round trip to a shop that could swedge it, most shops aren't equipped to do this.

The truck sounds graet with this exhaust. My worry is that the extension pipe we had to install in the downpipe was not aluminized and might rust out sooner than the rest of the system.

You need to look into the fitment of the downpipe on all trucks not just 4x4.

Other than the downpipe problems I am happy eith the system.

I'll tell you in a couple weeks when I get it and get it installed. Right now, they're running behind on delivery due to some vendor.

Guess I'm a little late responding to the original question. The downpipe didn't fit too well with my D250, so we did some real-time changes. Cut the original downpipe just past the heat shield, welded in the 3"-4" transition, then some new downpipe, then recut the bottom angle of the downpipe to go straight back, and then welded that essentially-new downpipe to the rest of the pipe.

Sounds great, a little improvement in EGT.

We put this kit in my bro-in-laws standard cabW250 with a getrag. . the down pipe didn't fit between the frame and bellhousing without putting a dent in the pipe were it contacts the bell housing. . the downpipe is a lot higher than stock so you can't use the stock bracket at the bell housing. if it were lower it would probably clear the bellhousing/frame area much better as well. we fabbed a bracket for that area. . after that, the rest of it fit real good. . sounds very cool... I'll probably buy one but I'll have to figure out how to fit it to my Pac Brake downpipe first.....

Jeremy, Sounds like the down-pipe doesnt fit on the GETRAG as well. I have your system and would prefer a proper fitment at the bell-housing. Please PM me. Thanks GregH

I am locking this thread and will leave it up for a bit so all that want can get the contact information.
