What would the difference be between a "regular" 5" remote brake and a "high performance" brake? Or is this just a kit that includes a compressor and brake? I would think a kit would be nice since it was a pain to try to round up all the pieces for my 5" remote brake.

Hello from Pacbrake,

The difference between in the 5" HP brake and a regular 5" brake is the amount of back pressure that it is able to generate.

The HP 5" has a much tighter "seal" allowing it to generate the required backpressure, whereas the regular 5" brake has to much"leakage" for the amount of exhaust that is going through it. This prevents it from getting the maximum allowable backpressure.

They are available as a complete kit Part # C44047 or the brake assembly only #C40211

Hello from Pacbrake,

Yes the 5"hp brake comes in a kit form too. Yes the compressor is adequate to fill tires as well. The kit is offered for 03 and newer trucks #C44047

Also some form of a torque converter lock up must be used.

I would definitely look into that due to the fact that I like the remote idea but never explored it due to my 5" exhaust. And like previous post, would the option be there to buy all needed accessories (compressor). ?

Good Morning,

Yes the 5" HP brake is offered as a brake assembly only,(C40211) or it comes as a complete kit(c44047) in both cases upgrading to this brake requires that there is some torque converter lock up system used, due to the increased low RPM holding power.

Hey Piers! Good to see ya!

I have sold 1 or 2 sets of the remote 5" PRXB in a custom kit Doug helped me set up. I think it would be very marketable with so many people going to 5" pipes on these newer trucks. Also, its ideal because it will allow customers to use whatever turbo(s) they want. I'm game.

Good Morning

Pacbrake here, just an FYI..... the HP kits are now available ( the difference in the HP vs a regular 5" is that due to the amount of exhaust flow the HP version has a tighter seal for better performance. The regular 5" has just to much "leakage" In any event its available as a complete kit,(C44047) or just the brake assembly(C40211) please give us shout if you need additional info.

Piers, how would this help me on 130+ MPH shut downs, I eat brakes and rotors too much :-laf

Good to see you posting again.

Good Morning from Pacbrake,

The answer to your question..... I Imagine that you are pretty aggressive on the brakes after crossing the line... so brake wear is inevitable, however the HP 5" will help... . but in your application it's tough to say to what extent.

There is one way to find out though... ...

If interested give us a shout 800 663 0096

Sounds like a product I'd buy. If it does go I'd like to request a Pacbrake part number be posted in this thread or one like it so the dealers we use don't have to be digging around to find us one. Thanks.

Hello from Pacbrake!

Well the 5" HP brake is now available. The complete kit # C 44047 or just the brake assembly C40211.

These brakes require the use of a torque converter lock up device due to the additional low end retarding power.

If you have any questions you can reach us a 800 663 0096

Piers, I would be interested in one, however I would not need the tank and maybe not the compressor.

Brake

Hi Bruce Beck,

I have a complete air system on my truck and a 4" air actuated E-Brake. What is included in the brake assembly #C40211? I have twins installed now and a necked down exhaust from 5" to 4". I would like to change that w/o loosing my brake. Thanks, Sam.

Bruce, my source is telling me #C40211 is the brake unit alone as you said and #C10545 is a mounting kit which includes flanges & clamps. The second part number will also be required to mount this correct?
