Anyone into wildcat loads?

I just talked to my father yesterday, he had just gotten his Ruger No. 1 back from being at the gunsmith for 6 years Had a 25-06 rechambered and rebarreled to . 338-. 375 H&H Ackley improved

I'm trying to help him find some loading data and some helpful info on getting the brass length long enough when fireforming.

sorry, never played with that caliber, have messed with a . 357 herret, but had opposite problem, had to trim the heck out of em.

Chamber Cast !

A chamber cast on the Ruger will show just how long you need the brass to be. It may lengthen on firing. Those Ackleys with the 40 degree shoulder are great.

I can not imagine keeping a customers rifle for 6 years.

My brother had a service rifle at a well known smith in Az for over 3 years. It was supposed to be a few months at the most!

He finally got it back, but had to threaten to call it in as stolen.

I looked through my loading manuals (Accurate, Sierra, Hodgdon, and Hornady) and I couldn't find any loads for the . 338-. 375, sorry. I have one wildcat gun that I own - a . 338 JDJ (#2). It's a . 444 marlin case necked down to . 338! I shoot a 200 gr Nosler BT at 2400 fps out of my 14 inch hand gun! I love the . 338 because it shoots so flat, I sight in for 200 yds and at 400 yards there's about 36 inches of drop. Here's a pic:
