Another computer question

Well Vacation went well right up until I was 80 or so miles into the middle of nowhere when it happened ... POW~Zing at - 19 degrees F* ! #3 cylinder let go and took out the piston, rings, crank, cylinder, and yes the head too  .

Grrrr I had this sled for a year and with a total of 2300 miles on the clock and man all I can think is the worst for Arctic Cr@p. 2nd owner of this 2001 gem and now I have to dump BIG$$ into it just to sell it   and being I am going to Thedford Mines in 3 weeks I need to find a motor QUICK!!! OR if anyone has a motor and wants a MINT Flawless chassis/body/track to go with it ;)

So anyone have a ticker for this true SLED?

Are you guilty of some of these.

Inproper storing of a sled. Did you fog the carbs and cyclinders? They WILL corrode over the summer. Been there seen alot of that.

Have you messed with the carb jetting? This is probably the biggest reason why your sled hatched. Lean = power = KaBoom. Again been there . Seen alot of that. Did you also bom that machine? Maybe its the High octane av gas you may have run in it?

It don't matter if its a pu$$y cat or ski dont or the P word. If you hit 4000 miles on one of these consider your self in the hi mileage club of sleds. Me I own one of the worst sleds ever know to man. Pu$$y Cat ZR 440. On my 2nd motor.

Well ride on and keep right side up.

Oh yeah Jeff Fogged , drained and even kept INSIDE! Jetting is bone stock (Actually was Riding Same alt as selling dealer) and was running a bit fat even. #3 leaned out BADLY and after thurough inspection found NO tears in Carb boots , and the crank seal is like new. Jets were perfect with no varnish or crud. Possibly CDI issue or even intermittent fuel pump issue? I am left both  but strangly  but mostly

RX-1 Here I come ! (Test rode allready and I can't believe that thing)

Doh ... . Yeah I saw that and got all warm and fuzzy and mine is a '01. (2000 will fit as well) I have a line on a motor MAYBE tomorrow. Boy oh boy I allready went thru ALL of my fingernails and am working on fingerprints and knuckles now. #ad

AC don't make triples anymore, I've heard this story before.

Also, 3/4 throttle is a lean zone on most sleds, at -18 you should have picked the needle up one to fatten up your mid range jetting along with changing mains.

Yeah I allways modulate the throttle a bit (Never just at a certain spot) but the trails up there once rippin' require 12 throttle most of the time. That was juuust what I did not wanna do is rejet first thing on a trip.

Found the problem ... . Friggin' reed cage gasket sucked in

Ahhh but I am waiting on 1100 Cc's of fury to call me back Oo. Oo. Blue , white , and fast all over :p

Ditch the gasser and put a Cummins 4BT in it... . it'll run lean all day long.

You MIGHT have to increase your spring rate on the front end... . and do some creative fiberglass work at the same time... . but it'll be worth it in the long run.

Tim,

Just cause you drive one of the biggest/heaviest pickups on the road, doesn't mean you need to ride one of the biggest/heaviest sleds on the snow (RX1). :D:D hehe

A Polaris fan,

Josh

Not exactly ... ... CLOSE but not quite. However I am bringin' plenty of chains to Lock Down with (And not normal chains either).

snowracer, Man I gotta tell ya I was solidly impressed with the RX on power delivery and chassis behavier. Heck weighs as musch as an SRX700 with elect start opt and has 146 H. P WITHOUT toolin ;) :p , 4 Stroke reliability , wide open ripper , trail thumper ... . Where do I sign?

Hey Tim,

The two guys I know here in AK with RX1-mountain sleds are looking to get rid of them. They have this tendancy to sink in the soft snow... . and get stuck. . and they are heavy. Want to ride a better sled, try a Skidoo Rev, or the Firecat...

Still looking for a new motor?? Look here. . www.ddracing.com/03-ShopOnline.asp

Jr. I gave the rev a ride and psitioning is great! it is a very Buzzy sort of ride that can numb you as you are basicly ontop of the rotax and the sled offers hardly nothing in terms of wind protection. Me , I am an aggressive trail runner and avid Playground fan , so I Don't do much vergin snow fun but have been known to wander and if the time calls for it i'll swap in a 2" lug if need be ;)

Man the F7 rips no doubt there at all (Hey after all it is a Cat ;) ) and I liked that rip rush of the ThunderSmear (Went like a cannon but handled like a wet church mouse) but I must say I am sold on the Rx-1 ER. After that ride I was wowed. Picture a sled that pulls from 80--> on to 100+ as if you are goung from 20 --> 80 on a big bore twin. And the powerband is linear it just pulls everyehere, is again 4 stroke reliable , and has just simply amazing handling. Weighing in at ... . O. K 558 Yeah that's portly but compare that with my ZRT600 which DRY weighed in at 533 lbs To me is only a teeny tiny piece of the equasion. However I am most interested in thos two RX-1's you mentioned above as to why they did not like 'em? I just may be beautifly blinded as I am thinking this sled is the ebst thing scince ..... well ever?
